🔙 This mod makes Played Sims' skills gradually decay in certain skill levels, giving Sims a purpose to work on their skills when they have attained a high level or even maximized a skill.
This won't affect Unplayed households and NPC Sims so your townies can keep their skills. I also disallow Servo from skill decay.
- This doesn't edit any game tunings and should be compatible with any other mods. It, however, won't make a custom skill decay unless I have made an add-on for it. Comment what custom skill by other creators you want to be included and I will make add-ons for them!
- You need to have an XML injector for this mod to work!
- The game skills by EA are devived into Adult/Child/Toddler skills. You CAN install what serves your gameplay style.
** Base-Game Compatible. The mod will check which skills your Sims have and exclude those they don't have.
👑 How do Skill Decay work: to check skill levels and skill types
SkillDecay_EA includes ALL non-child/toddler EA game skills from ALL packs.
SkillDecay_Child includes the four child skills and works differently.
SkillDecay_Toddler includes all toddler skills except for Potty Skill and works differently.

To translators, you don't need to translate this mod for the buff because the strings are used for mod testing purposes only.
Please feel free to give feedback on their effects in the game, whether it is too extreme or too subtle, especially when using with many other mods!

2022-10-31 03:59:05 +0000 UTCFirst of all thanks for a great mod. However, like Nyah John and Intern Waffle, it causes issues for me when you get to level 10 and use the skill. Could you perhaps do something like - when you hit level 10 the skill no longer decays, however there's a daily check to see if the skill is used and if it's not it starts decaying again?

2022-10-26 11:18:42 +0000 UTCAs Nyah said, at level 10 the skills decay to 9 instantly because there's nothing to decay "from". Maybe it should disable for Level 10 skills? That way if you max it out you earn it forever and it won't keep resetting?

Because I have a teen sim that lives alone and cooks her own meals often and since she's reached lvl 10 of cooking, it drops back down so fast and so often that the Level10 notification pops up every time she cooks. Idk how else to put it, like. She will make even a snack (via another mod) and by the time she has started eatting, the skill is at 9. She will begin cooking something again and it instantly goes to 10. Basically, I like the mod, but I just want certain skills to not decay at all, especially if I have a sim that uses a certain skill so often.

2022-04-06 01:57:37 +0000 UTCTechnically, the skills are in use because there is a constant minus in the skills. I can see if I can disable the effect but I think that's how the sims engines work. 😅

2022-03-25 17:28:08 +0000 UTCHey just wondering if sims with decaying skills should always have the skill bar above their head? I'm testing the mod on a household where both sims had multiple level 10 skills and since they dropped down to level 9 the skill bar never went away...

2022-03-23 22:58:47 +0000 UTCYeah, something must be conflicting because when I took it out it worked again so I will have to do some investigating when I have time. I do have almost 50GB of mods/cc in my game so it will take a lot to sort through to figure out what is conflicting.

2022-03-16 00:27:20 +0000 UTCThis mod does not do anything to build/buy and would not cause this. I tested this in the game with my mods to see if it would happen and it doesn't. 😉 You need to check for any broken CC or UI mod.

2022-03-14 22:28:22 +0000 UTCSo I am not sure if this is a conflict with another mod I have or it is an issue with your mod. But when I have this in my game the eyedropper tool does not work anymore in build/buy. I have not taken all my mods out to test. I was just giving a heads up in case.
