it was honestly about damn time that I reacted to an entire Hobi album and I chose Jack in the Box because I was ITCHING to watch HobiPallooza but didn't want to go into it completely lost and confused HAH. I feel like festivals are way more fun if you at least know ONE song, right?! So I did my homework with this album reaction and I was completely blown away.
Jack in the Box gave me a completely new vibe to Hobi. Something more raw, grungy, tough and REAL! He addresses many issues in this album from personal to worldwide and it was truly such an inspirational experience to listen to.
I've always been a Hobi fan but now i feel like we've taken it to the next level and I really cannot wait to hear and see more from him!

Jack In the Box is one of my favorite albums!! 🔥it has a lot of old school hip hop elements and even rock which I love. Hoseok as always killing it with the concepts. I have to say he left us all in shock since it was really a darker side of him.. like this is not J-hope, this is Jack and Jay 🔥 It's so funny the fact not a single soul called this man Hobi when More and the JITB album was dropped lmao 😭 In fact it took me a week 💀 Anyway, a love the way this album is a whole body of work. I mean, I really enjoy listening to full albums so the fact all the tracks are connected in some way is so satisfying. like you are listening to one song and you are reflecting about it and making guesses of what is Hobi feeling and that is literally the next topic! It's so genius 💜👀

2024-11-24 00:54:37 +0000 UTCAn interesting thing about hobi.... when you hear him say things in these lyrics about being made by his name, is that he chose his name j-hope because he WANTED to be a hopeful persona/symbol of hope, but he wasn't one to begin with. I think it was the 2016 festa when yoongi joked that he should have been called j-sad because he'd never seen a more depressed kid. So he wore the j-hope persona and eventually became hopeful like his name. The power of positive thinking eh? lol This is definitely my favorite of his albums, being a rock girlie and all. ANd now that he AND jin have both done rock i neeeeeed them to do a subunit album! jin's power ballad vocals ft hobi's grunge would be so gooooood. (and then they could tour together 😏)

But please try to stick to the official MVs and audios. It just hits so much harder when you see the MV for the first time and get completely surprised by the song and its visuals. It makes the experience so much more impactful and meaningful! 💜

And it’s hard to be a public figure of hope in a world of hate and darkness. He’s grappling with some tough internal questions- is it people that are inherently bad or is it their circumstances? (Stop) What would he himself be like if he didn’t have the life he did? Is it okay for him to make judgments about anything when he lives a privileged life or does that make him look like a hypocrite? (What If) What about his own fears and anxieties- how can he process those when he is supposed to represent pure joy and hope to millions? (Safety Zone) And finally somewhat of a resolution- a realization that he wants to remain j-hope because he needs that hopeful outlook just as much as everyone else, and the best thing he can do is keep moving forward. (Future) It’s such a good and cohesive follow-up album to his first mixtape Hope World, which I think lyrically laid a foundation for this one. The fact that he didn’t start out writing and rapping early on is astounding to me because ofc he’s an instinctually good rapper but also he’s an incredible lyricist and storyteller!
