So in Boy in Love, they use "appa" ask how their dad asked their "eomma" (mom) out when they were younger, and they use "Oppa" to refer to themselves, saying "I want to be your oppa"/I want to be in a relationship with you. I totally got them mixed up for a while as well so I thought I'd clarify in case you didn't know :)

2025-11-28 15:09:30 +0000 UTCJust started watching this but since you mentioned the pronounciation of Bangtan, i wanted to mention that your spanish speaking background could be kinda helpful for guessing how a korean word is pronounced. Especially when we talk about vowels, 99 times out of 100 putting on your ”spanish brain” will be helpful for pronouncing korean vowels especially A O I sounds! The A vowel is almost always pronounced like a spanish A unless in words romanized with another vowel after like Tae, that Ae sound is a single vowel in korean and i think spanish pronounciation would complicate things here 😅 But in general, for single vowels put on your spanish brain and it will help! As someone whos native language is neither english or korean, i think english speakers can struggle with korean vowels because english vowel sounds are so confusing. How are there like 5 different ways to pronounce an A depending on the word LOL !
