Piccolo - High Res + Layered PSD

Here's the completed Piccolo painting - I did the entire painting with the brush attached to this post - really enjoyed this process! I found now that my pressure sensitivity is fixed with my new tablet that a lot of my previous issues painting have vanished and I'm able to get all detailed and painterly in photoshop. Now that this has been ironed out, I'm really looking forward to creating more work with this style painting.
Attached you'll find the high res TIFF files as well as the layered PSD so that you can see how I built this image up in photoshop. Hope it helps!
The printable file is attached to this post - it's a TIFF file, this means it's lossless and you can print the best version possible - please convert this file to CMYK before printing or have your local print shop convert it for you and handle necessary color adjustments!

2021-05-28 19:49:39 +0000 UTCHey Dave. This isn't a question, but a happy accident that happened that I thought I'd tell you about. I've been using your 'sketch>tight lines>silhouette>flats>soft light/multiply>render over' approach and love it. I use the mixer brush a lot in my drawings, and change the settings to not pick up any colour on the brush, but rather move around colours on the layer (wet 32%, load 20%, mix 20%, flow 15% with icon of the line through the brush pressed, and select all layers unchecked, using a textured brush I made). However, what I did by accident that really surprised me, was I had my silhouette, then flats above on a clipping mask, then my LINES on a clipping mask above that, then my soft light, multiply etc above the lines on clipping masks too along with any adjustment layers. Then I copied and merged all of those layers, then used the mixer brush on that merged layer. It's not a million miles away from one of your approaches, but the soft light layers etc interact with the lines, then when you mix them it works really nicely, and generally speaking reduces rendering time over the top. You may have already tried this, but I thought I'd share it with you incase you haven't as I know you're always looking at different ways and approaches.
