Parable - 103 - HD

 Well, of course.

Commentary

This is about hair, I like this fem-Justin design, I wanted light teasing, and this height difference is easier to work with, so yes. Yes to Justin the barber.

In the context Justin was teasing at, a "beard" would be a man pretending to be Susan's boyfriend to give the entirely false impression that Susan is heterosexual.

Which Justin jokes about here as a play on words and messing with Susan, but it does come from the very unfortunate reality of people wanting, or having, to hide their non-heterosexuality. Which I would love to say was all in the past, but humanity's got a long way to go to reach an enlightened version of itself that several contemporary moms would still write angry letters to editors about.

I've seen enough literal beards to know that it doesn't always work that way for literal beards, either.

Apple AirPods Pro = _Great_ noise cancelling, better than most over-the-ears headphones I've tried. Easy to turn off if you need to talk to someone. Well worth the price.

Kinda bugs me that we use the same word regardless of gender. The original logic was that a fake girlfriend would make a man seem manlier, like a literal beard. It doesn't work the other way around.

Stephen Gilberg

I'm baffled by the very idea of being able to tune out people talking around one's self on demand. I'd love to be able to do that. Best I can manage is headphones that block ambient noise.

YESSSSS! More <strike>Hot Mom</strike> Day-Off Businesswoman Justin! Also LOL at the "beard" joke.

I haven't played Fables, but many of the games I've played with in-game cosmetic change options at a barber shop do include such. So chances seem good, even if Dan opts to not show this, it's true. I just hope for Susan's sake, that Justin said 'whiskers' rather than 'Whiskers'. It'd be frustrating for that to just be a different tag-along NPC. ;)

Haven't heard of the "beard" reference in weeks... maybe even months. I wasn't even "hanging around" the sorts of crowds where the term was used (specifically, all of the non-hetero normative people that I officially know are public about it these days), but I've heard the term clearly used in that manner in passing in 2020. To be clear, I don't try to listen in to other people's conversations, but I'm autistic and can't turn off my ears, and I live in a city and ride the subway. (Well, I *did* ride the subway. I don't d that now, of course.)

Some Ed

Clearly the designer of this reality feels they have to get what they can out of the investment in making this new character model. ;)

Brooks Moses

Hey, that's Justin, isn't it?

Daryl Sawyer

Never heard this terminology before

Haven't heard of the "beard" reference in years... maybe even decades.

Paul Lenoue

I hope "whiskers" include the nonhuman type.
