And here we are. Just days from the release of Chapter 18. Truth be told, the last third of this chapter came together a lot more quickly than I was expecting. I think having a handful of interior locations already in development (since I'd been planning this move for some time) really helped. Because the exteriors were a lot of wooded locations and there isn't a lot of pre-built maps that met my needs, there was a bit more handiwork in getting them to a state where they could be used for scenes, especially with setting up the trees and bushes so they frame the shots without getting in the way.
I like to think of this as the Wind Chapter, because of the constant presence of the storm audio (both wind and rain) employed throughout. There's an ambient channel set up some time ago (for the Two Girls, Two Rooms scene, in fact) for just such an occasion. So, with some tweaking of the channel's volume levels, I tried to keep the "pressure" on, making the coming storm a distinct part of the audio experience.
