Hey eveyone,
I wanted to use this recent painting of Archangel Raphael to talk a bit more about the freedom you have when selecting colors, and the primacy of value over color when conveying from. I've already talked about this a bit in this video: https://youtu.be/CXugpKLIy44
The first face example in this breakdown had the colors for shadow, light and halftone sampled from the Raphael painting:

Hope this is useful and maybe frees you up in your thinking when it comes to selecting colors and how they act in relation to value and the environment.
