2019-02-03 00:22:43 +0000 UTCOh - you probably confused yourself by reading the actual text of the book at the end - once you get past the chapter title & sub titile, the text is just an old Beatles song. I think they do this a lot for newspapers and books in films - the actual text never makes sense, it's just blurb most of the time.

2019-01-23 01:00:12 +0000 UTCI like this episode, though I find it hard to give it a score - a 6.5 or a 7? From my perspective now, probably would've given it a 7.5 first time I watched it. It makes perfect sense to me that the mystical energy of the Hellmouth can make unusual things like this happen - Macie turning invisible just because she felt invisible. I don't think she turned fully invisible in front of the whole class - like not with in a few minutes, just the first sign of it I reckon. I love the ending of this, really ups the episode for me, that the government train these invisible kids to become assassins - the ultimate secret agent eh? Like you said, she has the makings of a serial killer - so it all makes sense to me. And I like things that critique how evil governments are - cos it's a fucked up thing to do to these kids - I presume not all the invisible kids were already killers! It suggests that the authorities/government do know some stuff about the existence of the supernatural/magic. Maybe they have a witch on board to track down the invisible kids? I like how much you enjoyed this episode. I love the insights we get into Cordelia. Sad that she goes back to being worried about being popular at the last scene there, instead of making the step to make some new friends, but obviously she is quite scared of being an outcast. OK, you've seen Prophecy Girl now, so you know that she does pretty well in that episode. Absolutely love the actress who played Marcie, nice that you recognised her, she has indeed been in a ton of stuff. Clea DuVall - my favourite thing she's been in is the film But I'm A Cheerleader. The one thing I have an issue with in this episode is something you mentioned a few times - how murderous Marcie is just because she was an ignored outcast. the level of retribution is WAY too over the top! Like you say, she has the makings of a serial killer, so maybe there’s another unexplored reason for that - though actually being physically invisible would isolate you even more, and could lead to mental instability as Giles implied, but even that I don’t think is quite enough. I still like the episode a lot anyway.

It applies one of the premises of the show: high school is hell and everything that normal teenagers go through is shown as a demon or hellish situation. In this case feelings of isolation and of being invisibile become reality. It works within the frame of the show. And it’s not as you said that she becomes invisible in front of everyone, she was invisible to begin with, because in the mind of everyone around her, she was not seen. Quite literally out of mind out of sight. As for the ending, when the FBI agent says that she will be “rehabilitated” and will become a “useful member of society” they intend to use her invisibility as a skill for shady operations. Its a not so veiled critic of the government.

2018-12-23 08:26:10 +0000 UTCI’m not even 5 minutes through the episode, and I can already tell you’re enjoying the series so much more. 🙂 ..Which was to be expected with these last few, but yeah. You made it through the bulk of the series’ corny/bad plot episodes.
