I 100% agree Azula was looking any opening she could get and she found it the second he tooks his eyes off of her

2019-01-25 06:40:20 +0000 UTCAzula and her team was following Aang, Zuko was following Azula, and Iroh was following Zuko. And that's why it's called "The Chase." Azula targeted Iroh because he was the only viable target to cause a distraction to get away, since he was looking in another direction. I think going back into the episode in the end is a good idea, helps analyze the episode better.

He looks at her, then at Aang and linking them together and realising essentially that she's part of the enemy team he helped Zuko chase for so long. He got distracted and Azula saw a chance to surprise attack to create chaos that led to her escape. The only reason Azula went for Iroh is because he didn't have his guard up.
