This is probably my favorite Firefly episode. If someone told me I could show them one episode of Firefly, any episode, to convince them to watch the show, this is the one. This is actually literally the one that convinced most of my friends to watch the show, back when it first aired on TV. I recorded it (on VHS!) and brought it around to their houses and made them watch it.

2019-02-05 16:28:28 +0000 UTCI feel like you WAY overexamined this episode. It’s an old fashioned “ideal woman” mindset. She takes the mug to refill it because she’s the wife- that’s “her job.” Also it’s fun to watch Wash quake under the more modern feminist mindset Zoe has about marriage. This episode is great because the actress seduces and draws you in just like she does the crew of Serenity. Overall it’s one of my top three favorite episodes of the show. Plus it really helps show the dimensions of the relationship between Mal and Inara. I will say that I really enjoy watching you react to all of my favorite Whedon twists and turns. Great stuff.
