Even though Season 2 is a big improvement over Season 1, the show still isn't very consistent with how strong Buffy is, how strong Angel is, how strong vampires in general are. It seems like these change episode by episode. In Lie to Me the vampires were able to break out of that club which had a a steal door that was bent. That thing had to have been 6 inches thick. This episode Angel couldn't break out of a thin wire cage when his life depended on it. Doesn't make sense.

I think the leopard card as well as the music that plays when Kendra is in the plane is supposed to be vaguely ethnic in a way that is tacky and wouldn't be done today. I read once that the accent was a last minute change to the character and that the actress really didn't have enough time to get it down properly which is why so many people think it sounds kind of Irish.

I get how you would be annoyed that Buffy keeps beating all these so-called bad guys, BUT what you have to remember is Buffy is a vampire slayer - strength, speed, faster healing, etc... It's highly likely that a lot of these killers and bounty hunters etc ARE really good... against a human, or a regular demon or vampire. It's not known if they have ever succeeded in killing a slayer before though. If Giles reads all the killings and things, of course he will worry, because their past and documented killings are all they can go on, etc. PLUS the show is about Buffy, potentially becoming the best Slayer that ever lived :D Soooo you kind of hope that she is good, and is gonna kill the bad guys without too much hassle, its what she is built and chosen to do lol.

I’m Kendra, the Vampire Slayer! Is she Irish? Is she Jamaican? LOL! A lot of us asked the same question. Everybody already commented on your lack of reaction to the revelation/cliffhanger, so I won’t add to it. The age difference between Buffy and Angel, as I have explained in a earlier comment, the 26 years old thing is a retcon. At this point in the story everyone writing and everyone watching assume that, as Buffy said to her mom, Angel is in first year Community College, so clearly not 26, but younger. The cradle robber creature of the night boyfriend is not, in my opinion a reference to their human age difference, but the fact that she is dating a 240 year old vampire. This is a great episode, even if it’s a first part of a two parter, it doesn’t feels incomplete.

In some of these earlier episodes, they did have a problem with introducing these one-off bad guys, building them up to be this huge threat, and then they don't turn out to be much of anything in the context of our storyline. It's because the writers are trying to give a compelling bad guy for an ep or two, but they're not the heart of the show. Since they're not, the emphasis is not put on them much to build up their character as a big threat. These eps you just have to kind of put that aside and focus on our main characters and what they're going through because that's what the writers want us to focus on anyhow. In later seasons, this is much less of an issue as there are fewer one-off bad guy eps like this......and when they do come along, the bad guys are much better written. The character of Kendra is Jamaican, but she was supposed to be from a more remote location which is where her accent comes from. The reason Kendra showed up at Angel's is because she was tracking Buffy. She took the information she had and it lead her to where Buffy was located. I always took it as Kendra is just really good at what she does. I was also surprised you didn't react when Kendra said she is the slayer. That's a huge moment in the series. What do you think it means?....unless you've already watched part 2 and know exactly what it means. :)

I'm surprised you didn't react more to "I'm Kendra, the vampire slayer" since there's only supposed to be "one girl in all the world". Kendra's accent is supposed to be some regional Jamaican accent (they had a linguistic coach for Bianca Lawson, the actress that played Kendra) but no one is happy with how it turned out. Especially the actress.
