They don't have hearts they are Cybermen, they are having "Brain Attacks", the only part that is human is rejecting and the Cybermen are self-destructing per protocol.

The thing you have to remember while watching DW is that the "monsters" are many times a plot device used to advance the "human" aspect of the story. You can't watch this show expecting it to be like other scifi shows. It also helps to have a rudimentary knowledge of the original Whoniverse to get why certain storylines hold such significance.

I don't know if anyones mentioned it but in a deleted scene it was revealed that Ricky and Jake were boyfriends

For Rose and Mickey, I think it's their age. They're 19/20ish and so it's meant that they're kind of immature and messy with their relationship. He loves her so he kind of just accepts that she clearly isn't as into him as he is, her, even though he complains about it, he still will fall back in with her thanks to his own feelings, but she...I feel like although she cares about him, it doesn't feel like 'real love' to me anyway. It feels more like she cares and just kind of uses him as a convenience without really meaning to, again thanks to her age more than anything. But I think that's what you're sensing from them. That's my take on things (No spoilers, just my own thoughts and observations of these two)

FYI the sonic screwdriver is only ever used as a tool not a weapon. The big flash of light came from the part of the TARDIS that was recharging. It was the thing he gave 10 years of his life in order to start it charging. He used some of the energy to kill the Cybermen and then told Micky it was on a charging loop and would recharge in about 4 hours.

For me Jackie was never that annoying because I knew the actress from the cheesy yet somehow heart-warming movie "King Ralph" where she played John Goodman's girlfriend. And in case you missed it because you were talking at that moment, Rose referenced the season 1episode "Dalek" where we saw an original series Cyberman head in Van Statten's collection after their arrival.

Cybermen are not technically robots as they have human brains. This again goes back to 1963 when they were told they could not do robots and they had to explain to the BBC that Cybermen were human brains inside metal suits. I've never liked them as a villain, Neil Gaiman wrote an episode in season 7 I think with Cybermen but it was much more interesting. There are 3 episodes that feature cybermen prominently that I like and this is not one of them. The original Cybermen were built on a planet called Mondas. The planet was a twin planet to earth and was dislodged from the solar system when the moon was formed. In an old episode of Doctor Who the Mondasians learned to pilot the planet and took it back to Earth where the planet was destroyed.
