It's a 9 for me too but only because I've seen SPN at a 10 and that's a whole nother level. I don't think Sam and Dean were out of character. Remember Max, the psychic kid who went around killing his abusive family? Dean was ready to kill him, too. And I think Sam didn't protest too much about killing Beverly because they didn't know if there was a cure once you're for sure infected. He didn't think there was a way to reverse it. I really felt for Dean here. I felt so sad for him, feeling so down and depressed over everything. The next episode really shows the burden he's had to carry, especially after John's death. He was just ready to give up and be at peace for once. I'm glad they both kept on fighting though. This is just a glimpse into the depression Dean felt and I'm just so sorry for him.

2021-04-13 15:08:04 +0000 UTCI think part of the slightly OOC behaviour, making Dean even more ruthless than usual, was to show the contrast when it's Sam who is infected (it's only a 40 min episode, so they need to move things along being perhaps a bit less subtle than they would like - I understand Jussi saying it should have been a two part episode, but I actually don't think the material would have stretched that far). It doesn't matter what Dean would do as a hunter, he is incapable of harming his brother, or letting anyone else hurt him. Plus, of course, he's being worn down by the secret he is carrying from his father (I can see you've watched it now, so I don't need to worry about spoiling). The idea that he might have to kill his brother is tearing him apart. And we're going to come back to it a few episodes down the line. Dean would rather die than kill Sam. Jensen is capable of some pretty nifty stunt driving. I don't know whether it's him here (when he reverses away from the zombies blocking the road and goes into a 180), but he has had a hand in some of the stunts. He loves the car and is going to have it when the series ends. Apparently, Jared is a terrible driver, so they will never allow him behind the wheel!

2019-06-15 22:07:13 +0000 UTCThis should have been two part episode. They managed to make build the threat and this town so good, some added scenes before they figure out the threat would have made it even better. One reason for the different acting can be seen as way for Sam and Dean to cope against the stress and weight of the secret Dean has been carrying and the fact that Sam is worried of his visions. They are close to breaking point, that is how I see it, and I can see that all of their non characteristic behavior come from that.

2019-05-11 00:23:18 +0000 UTCOne Hub works fine for me. Im glad you enjoyed this one and I agree, it had a different feel to it. I only started watching Supernatural at the beginning of the year and have just started season 5 now. The first season and a half I liked but it was around this stage where I started to get hooked as I think the show starts to find its identity more. Great reaction!

2019-05-10 23:33:10 +0000 UTCOne Hub is definitely a better site than Drop Box. So, thank you! I really loved this episode. I loved the mystery behind it and the storyline based on the history behind the lost colony of Roanoke. It's pretty cool. I do agree with you that both Sam and Dean acted out of character in this episode, which was sort of annoying, but overall its one of the better episodes of this season. As for the girl you questioned about when she was infected... she stated to Sam that she's been waiting the whole time, which leads us to believe that she was most likely infected even before Sam and Dean arrived in town. When the doctor told her she was clean, she meant that she didn't see any blood drips from the vials leak out onto her. Not that she had tested her blood ahead of time to make sure she was okay. As for the demon in the end possessing Dwayne, who Sam saw Dean kill in his vision... we discover that he's a demon just like Meg was back in season one. We find out here that he was talking to the Yellow Eyed Demon just like she did through a person's blood inside a chalice from season one's episode Shadow. And when he stated that there would be no one left behind, we can assume that Dwayne would either turn around to return to town so he could kill off the doctor, or that perhaps she might have been a demon like him all along too. Most likely it's the first idea. And yes... we discover that Yellow Eyes set all of this up in order to test Sam. The demons all wanted to see if he would be immune to their virus... most likely for future plans Yellow Eyes has in store for him like he claimed back in season one's finale... Devil's Trap. I hope this answers most of your questions, or at least helps you. Oh... and back when this season aired on TV, this episode was the midseason finale, which is why it showed the strange preview for what was ahead. To show us that it is technically a two part finale along with the next episode to come. However, for those of us watching it on TV back then, we had to wait two months before we could find out what John told Dean about Sam. Very intense wait. :) Thank you very much! Until next time...

2019-05-10 22:34:20 +0000 UTCI love this one, this is to me where the season really starts to pick up. As for the infected, I don't think they go in and out. i think they can "act normal" until they can get you. The nurse was probably infected the whole time. As far as killing the mom, what were they else were they gonna do. Love to see how you feel about the next one

2019-05-10 22:02:14 +0000 UTCJust thought I'd point out - the 'previews' at the end of the last few episodes were placed there in editing when the episode ended up being too short for the 42 minute air-time. Don't worry, they won't last long :)

2019-05-10 21:00:30 +0000 UTCI used One Hub to see if it can just stream better and not have to be downloaded.
