It was mentioned that there have been a string of good episodes this season. I feel this is when the show finally caught it's stride and the creators were free to do things they couldn't pull off earlier.

2020-05-01 02:31:54 +0000 UTCI really like this episode. I always have. I'm glad you got into it too. I think your reaction is what they intended with this episode. It is a lighter episode, which is always nice to have scattered throughout a season such as this. It's a chance to take a breath. You're quite the genius as figuring thigs out. Several times now. This season at least. This episode is the show makging fun of itself. SPN likes to do that sometimes. Go Meta. So there are a lot of easter eggs in it for fans. And some of the stuff in it - maybe a lot - that the director and such say is actually based on real life. Like executive network "suits" coming and wanting to change thing that are integral to the show. And there are a lot of inside jokes in the episode. I also was intrigued at seeing Dean get as into being a PA as he did. Was a bit sad too, though. He was really in his element and having fun. Poor guy. But it shows that he is not quite the strange, anti-social outsider that he may like to think he is. He fits right into a setting like this. Kind of cute how into it he was. Nice to see them have fun now and then. But seems like Sam never really has much "fun". Which is also sad. The actual McG was in this episode, but as a generic crew guy. Some of the other extras mulling about and in the crowd during the directors talk outside, included actual crewmembers. But the acting parts were actors hired for the episode. And, of course, they filmed this in Vancouver, not LA. Do you realize that you're practically done with season 2 already?!?!

(I mean every episode has comedy...dean) but these types of episodes are a little different, and more often then not it'll be a couple per season. So don't be surprised if you get a couple in a season.

2019-06-16 18:13:42 +0000 UTCIt's funny - I wasn't impressed all that much by this episode on first watching it, but now I love it. Every time I see it I catch more and more of the in jokes. You caught some of them - McG and the "slaves" comment, as well as the Gilmore Girls reference - but it's too early for you to know a lot of the rest. Dean always eating has come up before, but was even more exaggerated this episode (poor Jensen has been stuck with this ever since he did a small improv snagging some food in Season 1 and the writers promptly decided to make this part of his character). Don't know if you noticed that small scooter one of the assistants was using - the guys love to ride around on these despite being much too big for them. Every one of the notes that the producer was giving (too dark, not enough colour, how do the ghosts hear the summoning etc etc) are genuine notes they have had from the studio. As you have worked out already, SPN is not exclusively a horror show. It works in humour, drama, suspense, and a lot of angst. Hope you enjoy the rest of the season - the finale is (as often happens) a two parter.

2019-06-16 18:09:28 +0000 UTCThis is so much fun! I love it when shows make fun of themselves. I thought it was hilarious when you were complaining about the bad acting at the beginning and I've only just started watching Gilmore Girls through your reactions so I literally only got that joke now lol. Great reaction!

2019-06-16 17:40:27 +0000 UTCThis a really meta episode bc yes it's where shoot the show but all of the directions that the suit gave was actually given to the Kripke like they wanted the show to be "brighter " and I don't think this is a spoiler so here goes you'll find that SPN makes fun of its self and everything else(like Hollywood)quite alot while at the same time bringing the horror & also remember the reaper episode when the preachers wife broke the talisman that was controlling the reaper and he killed her will same deal here bc Walter was controlling those ghosts when he broke that talisman they were wanted to kill him and Sam & Dean had no time to burn bones to save him so that's why and I forgot to remind you to watch episodes 21 and 22 together bc reasons but you've probably already reacted to them right so I'll just be looking forward to the last 4 episodes WOW I can't believe we're here already can't wait!!💙🤪✌
