My biggest complaint would be all the Rumpelstiltskin deals with basically all the characters. I just like a little diversity. Maybe show some other problems and villains.

2023-07-09 00:25:14 +0000 UTCDefinitely my favorite episode of the series so far, I like how the show got past its rough start and is beginning to find its stride. I enjoyed the twists and turns the show takes to keep things interesting and the fact that Mr. Gold has his hand in literally everything makes me curious about his endgame. The Mary Margaret stuff tugged at the heartstrings because she's so genuine and sweet that it honestly made me feel bad. Good stuff, definitely enjoyed this episode even though it still had convenient writing and character actions to keep the episode going. No one ever thought it was funny how Regina just keeps popping up out of nowhere to deliver exposition at random times? It's just like where were you two seconds ago? Is she a stalker? lol

No, Abigail wasn’t just agreeing with Regina she really believes, as does everyone, that the life she’s living is real. Yes, it’s the result of the curse. Regina cast the curse & she gave everyone false memories. And because she cast it she had the power to keep hers intact but give everyone else false memories. And because Charming & Abigail were to be married in the EF she put them two together in Storybrooke. And this is all to keep Charming & Snow apart. Their false memories & unhappiness is her happy ending. And yes it was no coincidence that Regina led him to Gold’s shop. And that windmill was used to solidify his false memories. Which then led him to break Mary Margaret’s heart. I felt so bad for her. And Mr Gold/Rumple were as brilliant as ever. Robert Carlisle is phenomenal. The creators actually created the role for him & as we see there is no doubt why. Whether you love or hate what he does whether it’s in the EF or Storybrooke there is no denying Robert plays him brilliantly. And then as we saw in the backstory how Charming became prince James. But, there’s more to their backstory than meets the eye & that will be made clear in another episode. Overall, it was a good episode & I enjoyed your reaction.

2019-07-04 16:03:35 +0000 UTCSorry, I know it’s a complicated situation but I can’t feel bad about Mary and David. Technically, In their right minds, the people they truly are, are married, they choose each other. Underneath David and Mary, who are both just a creation of false memories, are Snow and Charming. They are still married in my book, I know not everyone agrees, but in my mind, they are married, they were both in their right minds. Not this manipulated, fake concoction that Regina created. Katherine and David are “married” because Regina wanted it that way! Because REGINA chose this FOR THEM. They didn’t choose for themselves, not really, not real David(Charming/James) and Katherine(Princess Abigail). And even if Katherine and David were married in some legal way, it would still be null and void given the fact that he’s already married to Mary/Snow; at the very least spiritually and/or religiously. That’s just my personal view on the situation. 🤷🏼♀️❤️

2019-06-20 10:33:53 +0000 UTCI can clear up a couple of things you seem to have missed about the Curse (these were first described to Emma by Henry in the pilot.) First, Kathryn believes she is married to David because, like everyone brought there by the Curse (except Regina) she was given false memories by the Curse. The second thing is your question about the kids. The Curse kept time frozen in Storybrooke for 28 years, until Emma arrived. So no one aged. Ashley was pregnant for 28 years and all the kids remained the same age for 28 years. Except of course, for Henry, who was not cursed but was born in our world. Remember in the second episode that Archie said he had been seeing Henry for years even though Mary Margaret only gave him the book a month ago. I would assume Henry's problems with Regina began years ago when he first noticed that he was the only kid in school who aged. Therefore, he was primed to accept the idea that she was the Evil Queen when he got the book.

2019-06-19 23:19:40 +0000 UTCThere are so many little hints throughout the show and it's easy to miss them, keeping in mind that we're not seeing the Enchanted Forest storyline in chronological order. Rumple mentioned wanting to know the whereabouts of a fairy godmother so that he could take her wand. That happened in the episode with Cinderella. Rumple always has a reason for everything he does, and his character is just awesome, as you have realized already. He and Mr. Gold are definitely my favorite characters of the series, played by the best actor of the bunch. Loving these reactions.

Everytime Rumplestiltskin turns up, he just brings this goofy smile to my face. I can't imagine anyone playing him other than Robert Carlisle. He's brilliant. Glad you enjoyed this!

So many twists and they're brilliant!! First... you are a bit confused by Charming's name. I hope I can help clarify your confusion for you. Charming's mother never actually spoke her son's name at all throughout the episode. She actually only ever calls him "my darling boy", or something to that effect. Nor does King George... played by actor, Alan Dale, or Rumplestiltskin. The only time a name for him is spoken... it's actually King George calls his own son, the Prince who died, James. James is the name of the other twin who is killed, but when Charming agrees to King George's and Rumple's agreement to pretend to be his brother, Charming takes on the role of Prince James, pretending to be his brother in a ruse to con King Midas for his gold for the sake of George's kingdom. Charming doesn't wish to be a part of it, but then George darkly threatens to kill Charming's mother and to destroy their farm if he refused. So he becomes Prince James, as he's pretending to be when he first meets Snow and therefore introduces himself to her as James. Charming's true actual name, which will be somewhat cleared up in a very unclear, strange kind of way in future episodes, is not actually revealed yet. I just won't say which episodes to avoid spoilers. Now... I absolutely love the scenes between Charming and Rumplestiltskin, who is always brilliant, and the scenes between Charming and King George, who I love to hate. We have this episode's biggest twist when Prince James is killed, and we learn that he had a twin brother no one knew about except for Rumple himself, and of course the twins' parents. Not even Charming knew he had a brother, since they were babies when Rumple made the deal with his parents to save them and their farm. I love each of these reactions... between Rumple and King George, as well as Rumple and Charming before he becomes Prince James. Robert Carlyle is always brilliant in his acting of Rumplestiltskin, as well as Mr. Gold, both characters who have their hands in pretty much everything that goes on in our characters' lives. Both in the Enchanted Forest and in Storybrooke too. He's very clever and conniving, and like I stated before... he has a reason for doing everything he does. Then, Rumple and King George convinces Charming to take on this ruse for King Midas' so that George's kingdom will be replenished and so that Midas will give King George all the gold he desires. And yet Charming isn't meant to kill the dragon himself, only to pretend to have done so while George's men go into the cave to do so for him, seeing as he's nothing more than a shepherd. Little does anyone realize how skilled Charming is upon being a shepherd, as he charges in to try to protect the men's lives, then soon slays the dragon himself despite what everyone believed him to be capable of. I love how brave he is, and while the graphics like you pointed out might not be so great due to this show having a low budget, I really love this battle between Charming and the dragon. However, I feel that my favorite scenes throughout this episode are those between Charming and his mother. Such a tender and heartbreaking moment as they say goodbye to one another, as Charming is forced to agree to George's demands in order to protect his mother. She's so sweet and loving, and I love that she gives her son her ring and states that it will lead him to his true love, which it does as we see in the end when it shows Snow waiting in the tree as the royal carriage with Charming and Abigail drive past, leading into the beginning of Snow White and Prince Charming's love story shown in Snow Falls. Beautiful. I also love the beginning scene with him and his mother when she's trying to set him up with another woman, then his mother gets upset with herself for trying to set her son up in a marriage she knows he would never be happy in. These scenes show how much she truly loves her son, and how close she and Charming are with one another. As far as your confusion with why Charming states they can't be together... it is most likely out of fear that should he be guarded at all times upon taking on the role of the Prince and now being engaged to Midas' daughter, that George would have his mother killed and their farm destroyed, just as George threatened to do should Charming refuse to play the role of his son. Next... I enjoy this show's take on King Midas, as well as seeing that Kathryn, whose true name is Abigail in the Enchanted Forest and is Midas' daughter, is sweet and kind, while Abigail is quite the opposite. And yet, there's more to her than meets the eye. As for the present day storylines... First, to help clear up your confusion with David and the windmill when he sees it in Gold's shop... Because Charming was unconscious upon being severely wounded when the curse fell over them, in Storybrooke he's found in a coma and once he awakens, the curse hasn't affected him fully yet because of his unconscious state as the curse reformed everyone's memories, including his. That's what the curse has done for everyone from the Enchanted Forest brought over into Storybrooke within the curse, except for Regina because she's the one who cast it and created a way to keep her own memories intact. The curse alters everyone's memories... taking pieces from everyone's true lives and manipulating them in such a way so that everyone is truly miserable, and everyone's happy endings are simply gone. For David... because he was briefly engaged to Princess Abigail in the Enchanted Forest, the curse made both him and Kathryn believe that they're married in their cursed lives here in Storybrooke. However, that they are also in a rocky marriage. However, again because David was unconscious when the curse hit him, his false memories didn't work on him like they instantaneously did for everyone else. He simply has no memories of anyone or anything whatsoever. Which is why he is confused by his true love for Mary Margaret, who he is really married to like we saw from their wedding shown in the pilot episode, and his false love for Kathryn he can't remember. Until of course Regina leads David to Gold, who then uses the windmill to help implant the false memories permanently within David's mind, so that he will remember feelings for Kathryn he never actually had. The windmill was used not to so much help trigger the memories, but to hypnotize David until the false memories flooded through his mind. I know this isn't really explained very well, but I hope this helps you understand a little bit better as to what was happening in this scene. As for why it was a windmill that Gold used for Regina to do this... perhaps it's because the windmill was something from Charming's farm in the Enchanted Forest and therefore it became the object upon it too coming over in the curse, simply used to distort all of his memories. As for the end scene between David and Mary Margaret once he remembers his false memories and then comes to find her down by the troll bridge... you're right that this scene was beautifully acted by both Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas, and that you could feel Mary Margaret's heart shatter upon being crushed when David tells her he wants to do right by Kathryn. And to be honest... I'm not so sure which is worse... for him to break Mary Margaret's heart, or Kathryn's heart. It's crushing either way. But oh... I just felt so bad for Mary Margaret. As for the scene between Emma and Sheriff Graham... it's brief and just okay. I didn't really take much away from it, although that it's meant to help make you feel there's something more between Emma and Graham, which explains why she's more jealous of his twisted relationship with Regina, than angry over his deception and him having sex with Regina while Henry's asleep in the house. And lastly... we have the end scene between Mary Margaret and Dr. Whale. I do not like them together and like you, I thought he was a complete jerk. And I got so frustrated when he asked if he could buy her a drink, and she said that he could buy her two. Clearly, this leads us to believe something more might happen between them and yikes... they are not good together whatsoever. Overall... I love this episode and I loved getting more of a brilliant backstory with Charming and his twin brother, Prince James. I also loved David's constant pursuit of Mary Margaret, as he struggles to convince her that he wants to be with her, not Kathryn. I love how he states that he never chose Kathryn, only the man he couldn't remember had because he never was him. He was only ever a man who loves Mary Margaret and is drawn to her because they are one another's true loves. The twists are great and the acting is top notch. Thank you so much!!! I can't wait for more, so until next time...
