What To Do With Sitcom Scoring?

The issue I have been having has been around the scoring for sitcoms(The Office, Scrubs, Malcolm In The Middle). I think that I am going to figure out a better system that better shows the enjoyment of the show instead what we have.
Updated Example:
Watch This Or Dont Bother Watching Show Anymore (This Is An Episode That Does Everything Almost Perfect) = 10
Must Watch Episode ( Filled With Great Moments That Everyone Will Love) = 8 - 9
Should Watch Episode(Some Good Moments You Will Enjoy but it's not essential) = 7
Can Watch Episode (Middle of The Road Episode) = 5 - 6
Skippable Episode (Not Much Entertaining Happens Here) = 1 - 4
Below Give Suggestions If You Have Any Better Scoring Or Words I Could Use

2019-06-25 15:24:46 +0000 UTCI think the worst way to judge a sitcom is to base the scoring primarily on comedy alone, if we take for exampel scrubs, some of the best episodes of that show (in my opinion) are those with the least amount of comedy but have some very emotional moments, or Psych which focuses a lot more on the Characters and their interactions rather then pure jokes or the story. Which means it's less "in your face" jokes that make you laugh but rather a "warm feeling", something you enjoy, what you smile about, not necessary something that you laugh about. Sure jokes themself are a big part of a sitcom and shouldn't be neglected but at the same time the scoring should not be overly depending on how the episode made you laugh since sometimes the best episodes are simply those that make you laugh the least but have other very good qualities instead. And some sitcoms don't really go for laughs at all, like The Office where a hugh part of the humor is more on the "cringe" side and not the laughing side. It has it's own charm but is vastly different from a show that only focuses on making the audience laugh.

2019-06-25 14:51:19 +0000 UTCI don’t really know how else you could score tbh. I agree that most of, for example, Malcolm in the Middle, is going to score 7 or 8. Just perhaps adjust your expectations to the sort of show you are finding it out to be? Amusing but not necessarily laugh out loud? Or maybe it does become more laugh out loud later - it’s a long time ago now. Psych can vary a bit more. Scrubs can be lol or really dramatic or both (or, in a weaker episode, neither), so scoring is more relevant for that one. Basically, I find myself interested in your scores for the various dramas (Roswell, SPN, Buffy), as I like to compare to the marking I would give to an episode. But for Psych and Malcolm in the Middle I find myself uninterested in that aspect and only in your general comment. I don’t know I’m being in any way helpful here. But I do think you do tend, at least in your spoken comments (I can’t tell what you’re not verbalising) to try to place certain shows in a single category in your mind, whereas some cross barriers and simply do their own thing.

2019-06-25 14:07:31 +0000 UTCAs a longtime fan of "The Office" I would say that it is probably not known for being "LOL-funny" for most of the time like other sitcoms. Instead it's enjoyable and rewarding in combination with other criteria too (story, cringe, character development, etc ....). So I think maybe the rating of the episode should be based on all of these features + the significance of the episode in the whole story.

2019-06-25 14:02:41 +0000 UTCSitcoms, to me, are about 2 things. How funny it is, and how much heart it has. IDK if it's possible, but maybe 2 polls. One for comedy, and one for drama. Both up to 5...? Something like that maybe.

2019-06-25 13:58:22 +0000 UTCI mean, the ratings are subjective anyway. I would just base it on how much you would recommend the episode to someone else. 0 - being a waste of time, and 10 - being something that everyone could enjoy.
