This is in my top 10 favorite episodes. It's goofy, but I love Cary Elwes and I think he suits the tone of the show perfectly. Also, leading up to this episode, there's a very small number of episodes that don't involve murder. It was neat to see them do something different and (for me, at least) the pacing and structure of this one are a little bit stronger than some of the others.

2020-12-18 17:10:59 +0000 UTCAS YOU WISH! Ever seen The Princess Bride? If not you should. I like this episode... starts off my favorite season with a bit of a plot and with one of my top 10 favorite movies lead actor.

2020-04-18 18:53:26 +0000 UTCI love Cary Elwes so much, and I love him in Psych. I actually met him at a con a few months ago. He is incredibly kind and generous. I went to his panel, and the mic for audience members to ask questions was not working. He came down off his stage area to the ground, called each audience member up to him one by one, let them use his mic to ask the question and then let them stand there while he answered it and he talked directly to them like a one on one interview. It was very wholesome.

2020-04-11 01:12:24 +0000 UTCYou can see it in some episodes, they screw with the colour profile to make it seem warm and sunny, but if you look it is cloudy and was actually very cold.

2020-04-09 20:54:51 +0000 UTCSo, fun fact: the whole show is actually mostly shot in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I imagine the “setting” and title were the producers having fun with that. Actually, an ***INSANE BUTTLOAD*** of movies and shows are shot in Vancouver, disguised as another location. Tony Zhan did a phenomenal video on it called Vancouver Never Plays Itself a few years back. If you have ten minutes to spare, highly recommend. Anyway, I guess it’s a spoiler to confirm, but yes, Despereaux is a recurring character, and a fan favorite from the series (and for good reason). Poor Cary Elwes, though. He’s pretty much only known for Princess Bride, Saw, and this show, despite a long career.

2020-04-09 18:22:26 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure the flashback scenes were all filmed in like season 1. That's why the child actor never seems to age.

2020-04-09 15:49:42 +0000 UTCI have mixed feelings about this episode. They did Cary Elwes better than they did Tim Curry, but I'm still not sure it's up to snuff. The broad strokes and themes are good, but feel a little out of place after the season 3 finale, and that might be my problem - if I watched it any time other than right after the previous episode I might enjoy it more.

2020-04-09 15:37:54 +0000 UTCDespereaux is fantastic! I love the VERY deliberate jabs at the mentalist. The darker, yet total, ripoff of Psych. The banter has just been stepped up a notch in this one. And shawn talking to animals will forever be hilarious. I'm gonna shut up now, cos I risk spoiling future episodes if I continue. Season 4 is my favourite. That's all I'll say.
