Well as far as Angel looking forward to being human I think its about how he goes about being human that is why he is happy. Angel is all about atonement for what he has done as a vampire even though you could argue vampires are different people because they dont have souls but he still feels bad. So before with buffy obtaining happiness was at the cost of her life and he couldn't protect her. With the prophecy Angel has to fight various Apocalypse and evils and save people and at the end he becomes human. He didnt even know that was an option. If he does obtain it after going through his trials then it would be as if the powers that be kinda pardon him and he gets to live and his atonement is done. Where before it would have been selfish kind of but with the prophecy an outside force would grant him life because he fought the good fight.

2020-05-08 07:00:26 +0000 UTCI feel bad that you felt the need to rush out this reaction, I love both Angel and Buffy equally so I don’t mind you going at your own pace. It must be annoying for people who just watch BTVS, but you have to think of what’s best for you. Anyway, this was a great finale and I loved everything about it. Angel cutting off Lindsay’s hand was badass as hell. He would never kill him, though. That’s not his style at all. I thought the villain was kind of weak, but that’s the only thing I didn’t like.

Even more glad we'll be starting Buffy season 5 and Angel season 2. Things are about to get interesting. As far as Angel's opinion on becoming human changing. It's implied that had he become human before he would be leaving Buffy and the powers that be to fight the coming darkness on their own. Which would result in way more destruction and death, especially Buffy's. To "Shanshu" means that the fight will have been won and their would be no more coming darkness to deal with. So Angel would be human and not have to deal with the guilt of selfishly abandoning the fight.

2020-05-06 22:24:16 +0000 UTCThe deal with Angel feeling reluctant about becoming human has more to with the larger themes of the show and the concept of redemption. At least thats my interpretation. The in episode reason was the fact he felt he couldn't protect buffy as a human but to me that felt like kinda a weak reason. The main driver for Angel to do good up to this point is all the bad Angelious did. His chance to be with buffy felt like a cheat where as fulfilling this prophecy to him means that he has redeemed himself enough to have earned it. This might just be my interpretation having finished the show. the show explores Angel's philosophy/world view a lot more in later seasons.

2020-05-06 19:48:48 +0000 UTCThe way I think about Angel being happy now to be human one day, even though he technically already could have been in I Will Remember You is this... Angel tells Doyle that him being turned human just looked like his redemption, which is true. That was an accident. And at that point in time, the Oracles implied that if he were human then that Buffy would die. I take it as if he had stayed human, she would have risked herself unnecessarily for him somehow. So, the option for Angel was to give up humanity so Buffy could live. This is different, though. This reward of humanity is not tied to Buffy's life/future/destiny in any way which means he could truly enjoy it.

2020-05-06 17:10:26 +0000 UTCAngel turned down the opportunity to become human previously because Buffy may end up dead as a result and he felt he did not deserve to be given his past. This basically says he will have a show to earn it, which is why he reacts as he does.

2020-05-06 15:39:49 +0000 UTCIt's funny how you call Darla Rita, in Dexter the actress is kind of bleh but in Angel and Buffy she really shines, even in the few episodes of Buffy she was in if you were to go back and watch she simply does better acting and is a consistent character because of the role, it's by purpose in Dexter she is kind of bleh even within the story it's admitted she was just there as cover for Dexter. I like the actress though although for sure I prefer her as Darla way more than Rita like it's not even close, it's really something to go back and watch Dexter after having seen her as Darla how helpless she is as Rita compared to how she is as Darla.

2020-05-06 14:57:04 +0000 UTCThere is two parts to this the first part is that a Main Character was always supposed to die in Season 1 of Angel, there is speculation that Doyle's death was moved up, but this is were Doyle was supposed to get caught in the explosion and live long enough to bring Cordy back who would have still seen all of the visions and now use that as their guide. That is part 1.
