According to the DVD commentary Henry's video game addiction was meant to be a much bigger "B" story line but had to be cut for time as the main story was just too good. I wish they could have done something with it in another episode because Henry devolving like that would have been hysterical with more time and context. Rewatching these with you makes me realize I love this series of episodes you are in right now. Also, now's not the time to stop listening to opening credits, FYI. Just in case.

To him belief in a Father in the sky was childish and the relationship between he and his father was less than conventional. Often times people who have issues with their fathers are very skeptical of God. For the majority of the episode Shawn was having to confront his skepticism and also at the same time his dad was having an identity crisis, furthering the theme that belief in a heavenly Father was childish to Shawn, in a way that it wasn’t for Gus.

(The girl that kept doing bad in season one so she was being used as a suicide bomber infiltrating an activist group...only she didn't know the vest was a bomb and Nikita saved her, got her new papers, etc) I absolutely love how Shawn and Gus get wrapped up in their own little worlds and people are just like "...what?". lol.
