I knew plenty of kids growing up whos dad ran out on them but the kids idolized the father because they had one solid fond memory of the dad and hated the mom for the dad leaving. Any new man that would come into the picture would always bring out so much drama. Its like your dad was a dick he bounced..... I wish mine had my life would have turned out much different if I didnt have such a source of negativity around all the time. The blood glowing thing was just for our benefit I imagine someone in that line of work would notice a stain like that was likely blood.

2020-05-19 02:49:54 +0000 UTCThought this was okay, wasn't a big fan of some of the story decisions but ultimately I like the idea of getting rid of the kids. In a story like this they only get in the way and become annoying. Glad we won't have to deal with Astor and Cody, especially Astor and her attitude even though I do get where she's coming from. She's a scared kid who needs someone to blame for her mom's death. A father is supposed to protect the family so yeah, easy person to blame. Not even anything worth tripping off of tbh, the thing that's bothering me is how lazy this killer is on dumping the bodies. Just in a bunch of barrels in the swamp? Not even going to try and get rid of them any further? I would get if he dumped the bodies for animals to take care of but meh. I think this is a step down from the previous episode and seeing the Laguerta/Angel stuff didn't help either. I was never really a big fan of Laguerta in general, she's such a meh character who's just there to cause drama. Remember when she had a "crush" on Dexter? Yeah neither do the writers, they just "give her stuff to do" and that doesn't help her as a character.

2020-05-18 16:54:09 +0000 UTCAnother thing to consider is that a step father has no custody rights unless he legally adopts the step kids. The grand parents would have legal custody if they pushed it. It sucks but it's how it is. I'm not saying that happened here but if the grand parents asked for the kids to stay with them Dexter could fight it but would ultimately lose.

2020-05-18 13:07:48 +0000 UTCI think when I watched this season the first time, I was like you and figured the writers were trying to find a feasible way to uncomplicate Dexter's life by removing Astor and Cody. It didn't seem as implausible to me because Astor was completely acting out as a preteenager the last two seasons anyway. I also hated the Angel/Laguerta storyline. Just inserting conflict that didn't feel real. But I loved Dexter investigating the blood in the truck. He's looking for anything that gives him purpose because he is so lost after Rita's death. What can bring meaning to his life? He is numb and doesn't know what will be important to him, not even the killing.
