i know im late, but i am just now discovering your videos and wanted to comment on something you said. regarding why buffy couldn't beat the master easily...remember the prophecy states that the master was always slated to kill buffy. in this and any other reality. the only difference is that in the original reality, buffy has friends that save her. xander gives her mouth to mouth and brings her back to life. in this reality, she still dies but no one is there to bring her back to life. i like how even in an alternate reality, the prophecy still came true. it's a nod to the show's great continuity.

That torture scene with Angel and Vampire Willow, with Xander watching? Pretty much straight-up BDSM. Well, aside from the fact that it's non-consensual. But I'm fairly sure I know people who would go that far, if it was consensual. (And no, that's not code for me saying I'd do it. :-P)

When you realize that Buffy with no friends and no Giles is an amalgam between Kendra and Faith as a Slayer. There is just so much in this episode and every time it gets better and deeper. Joss Whedon and his Crew really nailed this on all levels.......

Can you imagine if this universe lasted even longer? In the original Dark Shadows, they did a seance where Victoria Winters gets transported back in time to 1695 when Barnabus Collins was still human (before he became a vampire) and they spent SIX MONTHS real time (of a five day a week soap opera) back in that timeline without ever seeing the modern cast. Actors took on different roles, a bad guy became a kind but uneducated servant, her best friend’s super kind boyfriend became an evil cad seaman, it must have been so delicious for the actors! Later when they introduced Quentin Collins to the show and he became popular, they went back to his time period for NINE MONTHS of real time shows.

I have no doubt that the presence of a Slayer was a bonus for Spike, and that he used his Slayer-killing cred to get in with the Annointed One, someone who clearly posed no threat to Spike. However, the reason Spike came to Sunnydale was the hope that the Hellmouth would heal Drusilla, plus Drusilla had increasingly strong visions once they arrived. I don't see the Master putting up with Spike's shenanigans, though. He either killed Spike, or Spike avoided it altogether with no Slayer to use as leverage.

Just a little note to the comment section. People do not come here to see your reaction, they come here for "his" reaction. We can't control how someone else watches a show. If it is so important that someone feels the exact same way you do about a show, maybe you should make your own reaction? Please stop this, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is a strong enough show that we should not be doing what other comment sections do and drive the narrative to fit our agenda. This makes us seem like "Lenny" from of "Mice and Men"/"Bugs Bunny, we do not have to hug and squeeze it until it becomes our "bunny rabbit". Never apologize about how you feel about the show, never stop giving your opinion but please stop trying to force how "you feel". This comment is less for you and more for the other viewers. I think you guys need to give Steven a break. We watch reactions because we enjoy watching people fall in love with the things we do. However we tend to forget that people are individuals, with their own thoughts and viewpoints, and it’s absolutely okay and fair. I don’t agree with everything he says. Sometimes I roll my eyes. But respect is important. For and from everyone. We’re all here to enjoy ourselves. However I do have to say to you Steven. I get it. I NEVER was a fan of Buffy/Angel. The show is too good to turn into Dawson’s Creek every time they’re on screen. But, just like you (and even I) get tired of seeing them, we kind of get tired of hearing you complain about it. I mean yeah it sucks. But we’re 9 episodes in. My advice would be to just sigh eternally and move forward because hey, most coming of age stories have characters that do annoying and silly things just like real teenagers do annoying and silly things. Either way. I support you and enjoy your reactions. So fuck the haters man. Just keep certain things in mind going forward I would say.

I always took it that Spike only came to Sunnydale because there was a slayer there. He seeks out slayers on purpose, as a challenge to himself. Remember one of the first things he says to the Annointed One was, I hear you have a slayer problem...you know what I find works really well for that?....killing them. (not a direct quote....don't come for me ;D ) So since Buffy never came to Sunnydale, Spike had no desire to show up. Even though this is a what-if episode, the writers are still very consistent in the lore, which I think is part of what makes it so great. It's not just done to be a cool story line. It's done with purpose and awareness of what came before.

Somebody on another reaction of this before made me really like this theory - the buffy we see here in the wishverse is totally stripped of everything our buffy has tethering her to the normal world (regular buffy). We know what Joyce is like with school, appearance, etc and there is no way Joyce would be lettingg Buffy look and behave this way. Which means either Buffy left her mum and went with her random watcher, or her mum was killed. This buffy has no friends, no family, no school. Just slaying. Also great catch in how they styled this bufy to look more like Kendra, who also lived quite spartan and lived to slay. I think this buffy isnt happy about slaying and resents it but its all she had, and it makes me wonder what she has been through in the wishverse. I love that the prophecy of the master killing buffy happens in both realities, only in the wishverse she cant come back from that neck snap and even if she had drowned again, there would be nobody to revive her. Also love vamp!willow and vamp!xander. I truly wish (see what I did there lol) that this episode had been a two-parter to go even deeper into the what-if!

It was prophesied that Master will kill Buffy. Happened in both world. Only in new one, she didn't have Angel and Xander to bring her back. One of the best episodes!

I love Jonathan for the simple reason that ever since he appeared in Inka Mummy Girl it gives the show a bit more "wholeness". It's not just our main gang and a few random extras in the background. No, there's Jonathan and Harmony (Mercedes McNab) and the gay football dude (Larry Bagby III.). In Smallville High almost every character that is not a main character is pretty much a one-off never to be seen again.

3x08 through to 3x17 is the best ten episode stretch in the series... This is a very good one. Certainly not top 5 in the series, but most of the top 5 is yet to come, so top 5 thus far isn't a crazy take or anything.

Love this episode and your reaction to vamp Willow and Xander. The slow motion kill sequence at the factory is iconic. And even in this alternate reality the Master kills the slayer as it was prophetized in the codex. I love the detail of Giles faith in a better reality.

I was just pointing out how hilarious the timing of these two episodes was in the buffy spoilers channel on the discord. I always get a kick out of remembering Emma Caulfield shows up in OUAT, and I could not fricken stop laughing when I got done watching that reaction and realized that the next Buffy was The Wish. xD

Just add to Allan's point, Buffy has lasted longer than most other slayers up t this point and the reason why is because she has a support system. If you remember in Season 2, Kendra did not have the support system, only a watcher. She was taken from her family and sent to a watcher so the familial ties that Buffy has, Kendra does not and that seems to leave her without something more personal to fight for.

The Master actually did kill Buffy during their first fight and Xander revived her. Granted it wasn’t much of a fight since she was under his thrall but still…

Buffy doesn't do what slayers are supposed to do. Slayers are supposed to embrace the whole chosen one persona and only be about slaying nothing else. Before Buffy fought the Master in season one she wasn't going to face him till she saw how it affected her friends . The alternate slayer didn't have anything to fight for, no friends, no family, no lover.
