8:15 Interesting thing about the money. Atwood wrote this book in 1985, before World Wide Web, but in her book all money was electronic, cash was no longer used. That's why it was so easy to take all money from females.

2019-08-06 17:49:47 +0000 UTCThat's not quite what happened. Commanders and their wives can have kids without handmaids (if they are biologically lucky). Handmaids were all *known* fertile women who have "sinned" and were destined for colonies (death), but Gilead allowed them to live to procreate. Because people don't know the exact the nature, cause and and cure for infertility plague, they can't say with absolute certainty who can or can't have kids. A woman (Wife, Martha, Econo wife) might live to 40 and suddenly get pregnant for the first time.

The doctor was a father to a lot of the kids born to handmaids. The Marthas are women who can't bear children anymore. The handmaids were all women who were proven fertile. Because even the lesbians were turned into handmaids because they hand good ovaries.

2019-08-06 16:43:11 +0000 UTCI do love this show but it is definitely not meant to be enjoyable. It is often very difficult to watch. It is supposed to make you mad and uncomfortable. I think the music choice also helps to build that feeling of "uncomfortable" contrasting a song that would normally make you feel one way with a situation that makes you feel another.

I think that Nick said to June, "Tell them everything" He knows they are going to question her about Ofglen and he's advising to her to answer them honestly. The author is a Canadian woman named Margaret Atwood. This is a really tough show to get through at times. Well, most of the time, really. I have cried and raged through it more than any other show. It's well worth watching but it tests you.

Apparently she does not know that when people love other people they want to take care of each other, provide them with anything that makes their lives more pleasant. But when it comes to the safety of her ass, she will totally let Luke that care of her by walking her to the station. 2) Theoretically all women can have kids, the wives of ruling party (that have to wear blue/green), marthas, econo-wives (wives of lower class people). Handmaid's are women that have transgressed, but instead of being sent to die to the colonies, they are allowed to live to have as many kids as they can for ruling class.
