Ok looking back on that wall of text, "quick explanation" was not too accurate.

Just a quick explanation for those out of the loop, as I was. Apparently a twitch 'raid' is when a streamer who has a bunch of people watching their stream is about to log off, they can then 'host' another streamer which essentially re-routes all the viewers to that other channel. The streamer who 'raided' GeekedOut had about 5k viewers when he logged off and I guess he commonly does this, RANDOMLY picking a streamer from all those online. To them, it's not an attack or a negative thing at all (although with 4k+ people you're going to get some bad eggs), it's their way of getting a less known person a bunch of views and potentially more followers if they're interested in the stream. The issue here is, we know Steven doesn't view chat during reactions so it was 15 or so minutes before he noticed the raid, and by then the hive mind nature of big groups had turned ugly, with people thinking he had prerecorded and wasnt actually streaming (since he was not interacting with them or noticing them), and then the more entitled few started being aggressive and reporting and all that bad stuff. It's a shame, specifically since Steven had said he wanted this stream to help unwind from a tough weekend and things literally took a super stressful turn. Not everyone from their raid was bad though, a good chunk really wanted to understand the stream and participate but, the timing of things was not great, and our use of twitch as the Patreon watch-a-long method is not very receptive to a raid like that, so... here we are. Hope it doesn't bother you to much Geeked, and good luck on the tough work week ahead.

I wasn't there for this one, but usually, during the actual episode there is very little chat - one or two comments or people dropping in to ask what the next show is going to be so they know when to come back - most of the actual chat happens during the review at the end of the episode

Yeah... no clue, what happened, as i don't watch live reactions. I'm just glad that your reacting style is not to keep reading the chat. That is the worst thing that a reactor can do. It beats the point of the whole exercise. The whole point of reactions is to look at the persons reactions to what's going on in the screen not to watch them chat away...

Well I wouldn't say it was "bad", it was more unlucky timing and then beeing a bit overwhelmed by it and the raiders not knowing he doesn't read chat during reactions so a few got upset and became angry / toxic and spam was a bit much as it's usually is during raids but others stuck around, were understanding and nice aswell.

This is why I don't watch the live reactions, the chats are distracting at best.

I had to work tonight so I missed it. I’m not sure what happened based on other comments but I’m sorry something bad happened. I hope that doesn’t put you off of live reactions because I really enjoy them when I can attend.

I was bummed that it was cut short due to the spam, you're one of my favorite reactors and it sucks that the fun was ruined

Don’t feel bad about it either. No matter what they said, the fact is I saw many of your regulars try to explain why you weren’t responding to the chat but their microwave spam and other spam kept the chat going so fast they couldn’t read it. If the raid didn’t engage in that spam they would have easily seen people explain why you weren’t responding yet. Plain and simple.
And no matter how many times you said you appreciate the raid they kept calling you ungrateful.
Sometimes you’re in a raid and end up in a channel that’s not for you. Instead of just leaving the channel like some, some chose to stay and just berate you. That’s on them.
