Interestingly it doesn't work like that in the UK. Although it does get fairly complicated, in general you don't get away with a crime just because it wasn't fair you got caught. There will be consequences for anyone involved in doing something wrong in getting a bad warrant or obtaining evidence illegally etc but there is and should be consequences for anyone caught doing something illegal as a result. The court had full discretion over it all in the end though and will try and balance things. It might well throw out illegally obtained evidence for a minor nothing crime as it is not worth allowing it. But in something major that balance can change.

2020-02-28 13:45:39 +0000 UTCThe search warrant was bad (gotten on shady grounds, likely) and thrown out, therefore any evidence gained by entering that apartment (the bomb and it's makings) are thrown out. You don't get to say, "Hey, we entered this apartment on bad faith, but forget all that, look at what we found!" Sucks moralistically but makes sense legally- a way to attempt to keep law enforcement honest and by the book.
