I’m annoyed that people are answering questions that the show is going to answer. Is it technically a spoiler? No but the rules of how things work is a big part of the mythology building in this show.

2020-02-07 02:09:03 +0000 UTCOh I guess I didn’t put it together since Elena saw Stephan face do that so much she didn’t put it together but I guess since this new Jeremy is more attentive and smarter it made sense he would jump to that. Especially with all the books on vampires he was reading

2020-02-06 23:30:34 +0000 UTCWait what? Was that implied in the show? I very much did not get that vibe. So the grandmother knew if she died that the spell would break and the vampires would go free? Oh I think that’s worse

2020-02-06 23:28:34 +0000 UTCI thought he would have caught on that the spell broke with Bonnie's grandma's death, oh well, new reactions are definitely something :)

2020-02-06 22:09:36 +0000 UTCThe sealing spell broke when Bonni'es grandma died . Jeremy lied to Elena , that he didin't remember anything , but he saw Anna's face .

2020-02-06 12:36:21 +0000 UTCBonnie should have let Stefan rot. But that’s just me. Anywho, I always figured that because Bonnie wanted to open the seal so bad the spell worked too well. They are Bennett witches. They’d just had a conversation about emotions fueling a witches power. Bonnie’s desire to save Stefan was so strong she probably directed the seal to stay open or be broken. And poor Grams used all her energy helping her. Should have just taken the grimoire and walked away. Like she said, Stefan made his choice. And Elena didn’t need to keep walking deeper into the tomb. She could have went back once Damon left her alone. She had a flash light but nooo she kept going deeper inside. That’s her choice.

2020-02-06 07:59:37 +0000 UTCElena probably assumed Ben was able to walk in the sun so opening the blinds would have just woke him up. They don't know what contained the vervain. The spell part, they removed the seal as well as opening the door, but Grams put the seal back up without using a celestial event, therefore tying it to herself. Her death meant the seal broke. For a sealing spell, witches use a talisman which should in theory last forever so that only a reversal spell can break it. Alternatively they can use celestial events, for instance they could use a new moon and the spell break when it is the full moon. So it can be permanent or on a celestial timer. Tying it to themselves takes up a lot of magic which is why they don't do it. It is also risky when like this time, the witch dies early. This applies to some other spells too. There is an entire wiki section on the spells from this show, The Originals and Legacies. It gives a list of ingredients, method and what they need to chant. Different witches use different methods. Grams had nothing to use but herself to seal the tomb. Elena feels sorry for Damon. He is a man who is driven by love and passion, so much that it makes him dangerous. He has just discovered that the woman he has been waiting for, for the last 145 years didn't feel the same and never bothered to even tell him. He is devastated and she knew that the best thing you can do for someone who is upset, is to give them a cuddle and nobody else would be there for him. He has trusted her, and trust isn't something he hands out lightly, which is why she said they have something, an understanding. She trusted him after he saved her in Atlanta. He trusts her, even though she did betray him. Great reaction, looking forward to the next one if there is one.

2020-02-06 01:39:15 +0000 UTCIt’s only the pendant on the necklace that contains vervain, the chain is fine. As to why they didn’t rip it off of her neck, I do not know 😛
