Gilmore Girls "The Road Trip to Harvard" 2x4 Reaction

I didn't enjoy that Lorelai took so long to call off the wedding But I'm glad that she did. Max wasn't The Guy for her. In some ways, it feels like he's the rebound from Chris. He was her only boyfriend until now. After they split, Lorelai focused everything she had into giving Rory a good home. She barely thought of herself. It took her 16 years to be able to start thinking about dating seriously again. Max was the rebound. You don't marry the rebound. But the rebound HAD to happen so you could move on and find the REAL person you're meant to be with. No one cared about Max being gone from the picture because they barely knew him. Only Rory did. I don't think even Sookie shared a meal with the guy and she's Lorelai's best friend. But, yeah, running away from life's problems? Procrastinating until the last second even if it's something as huge as calling off a wedding? That's a Lorelai thing to do. She doesn't do it to be malicious so I've made my peace with it.

I know I'm late to this, but I don't know if broken is the work I would use. The only relationship experience Lorelai has is with Chris when she was 16. Then she had to grow up quick and take care of Rory, and that's been her whole life for 16 years. So she had to put everything else on hold, and now that Rory is grown up and she can focus on herself again, she's starting from the 16 year old place again. I am actually glad she called off the wedding, just not the way she did it. But I don't know what the alternative is here.

You know why no one was sad about Loreli not marrying Max? Because no one knew him outside of Rory. You never saw him interact with anyone but Dean that one night. I would have felt sad but he wasn't integrated in Loreli's life.

Here's my question, throughout many points you asked "Why is no one confronting her?" or "Why are they letting her?". What would you want them to do? Anger would be weird, other than by Max who we haven't seen. Confusion could make sense, but the conversations would be short. "Why? Cause I didn't love him. Yeah well... you should've known that sooner! I know! Ok goodbye?" Idk, can't really see how anyone other than Rory MAYBE Sookie confronting her would make sense.

I’m going to quote Shakira” a woman is like a Diamond, she has many facetts, you can’t judge her on just one facett of her personality”. This show is great at exploring the many sides to the characters, and you almost have to wait to the end of the show to understand a character, and seeing Lorelei in this episode just makes me love her more, for her being fragile, and for trying to deal with a deep sadness Alone. She realised she didn’t have allot of time left with Rory, and bringing in Max would have changed the last time with her daughter, and she chose Rory. I think that is beautiful, and a man that would know Lorelei would understand that and would wait for a better timing to get married! love your reaction to this show! Hope you feel better soon!

I think this show does a great job of building up Rory and Lorelei’s characters, however there are moments when you will completely disagree with the way they handle things and the choices they make. Like real people, they have flaws. Lorelei can be extremely impulsive, stubborn, and self centered at times. I also hate how a lot of the time everyone in stars hollow enables Lorelei’s behavior. They act as if everything’s normal/ok when it’s definitely not. I’m looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the season.
