I like this arc enough, but it's the later seasons of Angel that really puts it over the top for me as some of the best of the Buffyverse.

2020-11-25 08:10:43 +0000 UTCI think the arc is fun. Itβs cool to do something totally different I think. Lots of good character stuff and I just think itβs a good time. Itβs not amazing or anything but I think overall itβs good. This was not written as a series final for the show. But this is the last episode when Buffy and Angel aired on the same network because Buffy moved to UPN while Angel stayed on the WB.

2020-11-24 02:42:05 +0000 UTCYeah, the Cordy/Groo romance isn't supposed to be taken as a legit two episode love story lol. Cordy deserved a little fairy tale romance from a guy treating her with total respect and like a princess, to contrast against how men were treating her in her own reality before she got sucked into Pylea.

2020-11-23 16:35:35 +0000 UTCi honestly cant wait I binge watch this back when i was 18 in 2012 and seasons 3-5 is really what I remember. Whether that be down to recency idk but I can say the story is lit, action packed and great with many moments of comedic reliefs

2020-11-23 02:03:50 +0000 UTCAlso, it was definitely never going to be the finale of Angel. Interesting to wonder, if Buffy had ended, if any of the Buffy cast would have ended up in Angel.

2020-11-23 01:30:48 +0000 UTCMeh. It's fine. Plenty of people fall in love at first sight, or at least in short order, especially in circumstances of heightened stakes, and the like. Plus, the whole point of it was that it was supposed to be a fairy tale. I don't think it's mindblowing or anything but I give them a ton of credit for a) not just doing a Buffy-style "big bad" conclusion of the season, and b) doing something totally different.

2020-11-23 01:29:15 +0000 UTCseason 3 is imo the show's best season. i think you're going to enjoy it more than season 2. so many memorable moments and some great arcs coming. enjoy!

2020-11-22 22:09:24 +0000 UTCi agree. i'm not a huge fan of this pylea arc, but i love what this episode does for wes' character development. he has come such a long way and is a far cry from the goofy bumbling clutz we met in buffy season 3. i also love the ending scene of this episode. always gives me chills when angel says "it's buffy...".

2020-11-22 22:07:29 +0000 UTCI agree the Cordy and Groosalugg part was corny as fuck. But other than that I think the Pylea arc is really fun. If I had to rate it overall I'd probably give it a strong 8 or a weak 9.

2020-11-22 19:11:38 +0000 UTCI've always loved these last three episodes of this season. Part of it is because I love Lorne so much and more Lorne = more enjoyment for me. While I do really like the season 5 finale of Buffy, the two episodes leading up to it have never really done much for me, mostly because in all these years of watching and rewatching Buffy, I never warmed up to Dawn.

2020-11-22 13:12:10 +0000 UTCThis arc was cute but it fell a bit flat compared to everything going on with Buffy... I feel like it was something we expected more out of but didnβt get, but still, I really like the concept of everything.. I felt it wasnβt executed to the hype they intended... I didnβt feel for Gru.. the same way with you.. but wow, it definitely was a good solid arc looking back.

2020-11-22 09:47:11 +0000 UTCOther than the adorableness of Fred and the gut-punch ending with Willow, my favorite part is how Cordy had the chance to give her visions to Gru, but chose to keep them. It really shows her growth from BtVS S1 that she is willing to endure the pain of her visions so she can continue to fight for the greater good.

2020-11-22 08:27:43 +0000 UTCCompletely agree with you on this arc. In fact, when it was airing it broke me for the series. I eventually ended up watching the whole thing via dvd. But I never really went back when it was on tv. The whole arc... And honestly the whole season for me was kinda meh. Especially when compared to everything they were doing on Buffy.

2020-11-22 08:09:14 +0000 UTCYeah the arc seems pretty polarizing for fans. I really like what it tries to do even if doesn't exactly nail it. It has good character moments for everybody, except Gunn who had most of his before they went through the portal. I'll say this: actually teleporting the gang into another dimension gives a legitimate reason for the high fantasy elements, which in turn works A LOT better than the goofy Knights of Byzantium subplot from Buffy that felt out of place and barely made sense at all.
