Honestly, Matt and Jenna's chemistry is off the charts. I think it rivals David and Catherine's. They just mash well together. Honestly, ever since Dalek Asylum I really shipped it. They just felt right and I'm pretty sure that's the angle they were going for. From the constant physical touches to the flirting, it really points at them liking each other. The episodes may not be perfect this season, but their chemistry and acting are really well done. I really enjoy this episode. Sure it's not my favorite, but it's fun. I love when we get an episode with the victorian trio. Strax is so funny. And Gillyflower was so creepy and crazy. THe actresses who played her and her daughter are mother and daughter in real life, so you can actually see the chemistry between them as well...but I have to say what gets to me is when the daughter finds out the truth. Her anger is honestly surprising but welcoming. It's not perfect, it's no "blink" but you have a good time watching it and tbh, that means it's a great show where you still enjoy yourself even in episodes that aren't the best.

I like the romance element with Clara and the Doctor - it's a very different vibe but feels earned.

With regards to it feeling like a cult but also like Church: this part of the country was full of weird and wonderful christian denominations (various types of methodist groups in particular) and utopian experiments at this time. Usually these were wrapped around a combination of workplace (factory) with housing for the workers, a strong focus on teetotalism and christian values, and often an abiding belief in the notion that the second coming was nigh

I love this episode. I particularly liked the Doctor's northern accent :P Speaking as a northerner myself (not too far from Bradford) - I really loved Strax's horror at the idea of going to ....'the North!'

Definitely agree. I think blind wave got an editor to edit it for them.

Weekly reminder for Steven letting him know that he SHOULD NOT watch the opening credits for the 50th Anniversary so he can have the best possible reaction and experience to the episode.
