That actor y'all recognized from Timeless, Matt Lanter, voiced Anakin Skywalker in the Clone Wars animated series. That show shared a showrunner with this one (Dave Filoni), so this was less an instance of "I want to be in a Star Wars show, no matter how small the role," and more of an Easter Egg cameo for fans. Incidentally, Filoni and other directors on this show (Rick Famuyiwa, who directed this ep, and Deborah Chow) also cameo'ed in this episode as the X-Wing pilots.
