2020-09-18 08:37:38 +0000 UTCS1 and S2 is just about Clark discovering his powers and how he is raised to become the person we know. What cool to know is how many actors got their first break or got well known through this show. Amy Adams is one of them and some that you will recognized that shows up on your other reaction shows. Oh and we always get a lot of foreshadowing about superman. btw since he doesnt know he comes from Krypton he can't call the meteor rock kryptonite so we are just going to settle for green meteor fragments.

2020-08-11 02:18:16 +0000 UTCS1 aired in 2001. It was cool to watch at the time of airing. I was born in 83 and went to high school 97-2001. So this aired in my first semester of community college when I was 18. This episode has another example of why I love how they use music in it. Other than then 70's and 80's rock I grew up liking I liked a lot of the music from the 90's and Early 2000's which Smallville features a lot. One of my favorite bands from the 90s and 00's is Bush and this episode had a song by them from their 4th cd from 2001 Speed Kills is during the scene at the office where Earl accidentally kills the cleaner guy. I liked a lot of the music throughout the show, not going to point them all it out but sometimes there are just ones I like to.

2020-07-28 17:15:55 +0000 UTCBehind the scenes stuff: This episode came pretty well together considering it was supposed to be the third episode and not the eighth and then got pushed back and there had to be some re-shoots. The Lana and Whitney "we just got back together" could be left-over from the fact that they had a fight about Whitney hanging Clark in the field in the pilot and Lana found out in episode 2.

2020-07-19 07:32:43 +0000 UTCClark also did a clever bit of hiding his super-strength when he opened the wall in case anyone would be asking questions (no one did but the prop masters / Clark still took the efforts to put it there). When you look closely there's a fire axe lying on the floor next to the opened wall that Clark can pretend he used.

2020-07-19 07:18:14 +0000 UTCThis is also a bit of unfortunate writing. Within the first two seasons there will be a second PoC person to get meteor-infected but also will not get an actual power but get sick from it. So white folks get powers from the rocks and PoC folks get sick. It wasn't intended that way, it was just a case of the unfortunate implications trope. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/UnfortunateImplications

2020-07-19 06:59:07 +0000 UTCAgreed, that was more of a "look at that caring, happy family" as his father gives him an awkward angled hug in front of the press.

2020-07-18 04:28:49 +0000 UTCGood episode! The part at the end where Lex is looking at Clark with, as you stated, suspicion, I've always interpreted it as Lex comparing his family to Clarks. Lex and his father are sharing an embrace in front of the press that's totally fake and all for show. Meanwhile Lex looks over and see's Clark joyfully being embraced by Jonathan and Martha and he can't help but compare the two families. Their happiness is painful to him because he's never had the same thing. It's good story telling because it makes us like and cheer for Lex, but also reveals his emotional damage which will play a role in his future character development.

2020-07-17 22:18:43 +0000 UTCLex was expelled from Met U. So he was about 21 at the beginning of the episode. While Clark was supposed to be about 15-16 years old.

2020-07-17 11:55:44 +0000 UTCGreat episode. This is where the Smallville really begins. Maybe its because I already watched Smallville many times, but I found really weird that you really harped on the meteor rock thing with Jenkins, because you keep saying you don't like his power, but it was not a power, he was just sick from them. Maybe that's why the 7. Anyway, given the previous episodes this is a 9 from me.

2020-07-17 11:53:34 +0000 UTC"Is he part of a biker gang?" You have to remember, this was the era of The Matrix. Black leather was all the rage for a minute there, lol.

2020-07-17 11:05:58 +0000 UTCAfter this episode Steven the show gets better with each episode and delves into the Luthors more. If the shaky starter episodes were why you were so delayed with new uploads, trust me, youβll enjoy the show after this point the more you watch it. Especially Season 2 π
