I kind of want to continue pushing my theory that it wasn't the sire bond that made Elena turn it off and it was her own choice... But both the way Katherine and Elena herself talked about turning off her emotions being a cop out, idk, it seemed to point to Elena doing it herself. A few episodes ago, we saw Stefan blame Damon for it, sure, but Stefan constantly blames Damon, well, for everything. I think seeing Elena take responsibility for it is important. It could just be inconsistent writing, or them pointing it to the amount of time she had it off, which, quite frankly, was a short amount of time compared to Stefan and Damon/ But, there have been too many conversations about her humanity that make it seem she decided to turn it off.

2021-07-21 16:49:38 +0000 UTCmatt's "death" was the perfect thing to bring back elena's humanity. never forget, she was willing to die herself in the season 3 finale to save matt. he obviously means a great deal to her and also represents her human link because he is literally the only human/non supernatural character left on the show lol. i thought the scene where her humanity comes back was really powerful.

I remember when i first watched this happen i was speechless cuz i really thought damon killed him cuz of how shitty he was treating him prior to it happening. I thought it was gonna be another one of his impulsive moves. Great scene
