“Did he just say ‘capture’ like it’s a fucking Pokémon?” actually got me good lol. No, yeah, I’m Super okay with Willow killing Warren. I haven’t watched the Dark Willow episodes since the first time I watched when I was 12 cuz I HATED that they killed off Tara at all. So I haven’t seen Warren’s death since that first time. My heart was RACING when she flayed him. He deserved it but I wished she’d done it slowly. He deserved a hell of a lot more pain. What a misogynistic ass. I wish they’d done more with that rather than make the Trio be such silly ‘villains’ for all of season 6. Great reaction Steven.

If anything I'm pissed Warren didn't go though more but yah I'm in your camp. Honestly I've thought about this for along time and I think I hate Warren Mears more then any other character in all of Buffy and Angel. Love your reaction so much.💜

Catherine Thurmond

LOL! I crack up Everytime I see that! Why would fans NOT be ok with that? If it was real life maybe, but this...? Warren was a psychopath and he killed my second favorite character in the series.

No new post in over a week, right?

So, this may get a bit long and nerdy, but it's one of my favorite things in Buffy. How they delve into what it means to be a slayer to such depths that we still haven't explored them all. The part of the slayer that comes to the fore here is the judge part. As the show has gone along, we've seen ample instances where Buffy the judge of who lives and who dies. The best example reference for this episode (for those who don't want to read a lot) is back in s3 when Buffy goes after Faith. If you watch that scene just after Buffy stabs Faith in the gut, you can see it in her eyes. The knowledge that she's done the wrong thing. To me, it's that very feeling that backs up her logic here. To go further though, I go right back to the first season. Buffy was basically Riley when he was first at the Initiative. Humans live, demons die. Then Angel comes along with his soul and messes up Buffy's viewing on judging life and death decisions forever. Now that she knows it's possible for a demon to be good, she has to wait until she knows they are bad before killing them. By bad, basically if they will harm people. Then Ford comes along in the second season to further complicate things. He introduces the concept of humans being threats to Buffy's view. She only went as far as saying she would kill him, but in the end, she left him to die still. She could have insisted he be let out. That could boil down to her knowing he wouldn't go anyways though. Then there's Ted. She didn't actually kill a human, but she thought she did. That continues what Lie to Me started. Does she have the right to kill anyone? That was a pretty big no there. Another part of this show that ties in to both Ted and Lie to Me that applies here, is the notion of choice. What the powers of good and evil in the Buffyverse use as a measure of a person is there choices. In Le to Me, she tells Ford he has a choice, not a very good one, but a choice. He chose to kill others to save himself. Buffy chose to turn herself into the police to pay for what she did. Further, Angelus taught Buffy a good lesson. Not to let personal feelings interfere with her duties as the slayer. She knew Angelus was harming, but didn't kill him due to her feelings for Angel. Later, we get back to choices being a big factor when she sent Angel to hell to close the portal. A decision so hard it broke her, a wound she never really recovered from fully. Faith is the biggest lesson that applies here. Faith killed people and it sucked her into a world she had no control over. At first it was an accident, but her poor choices sent her down that path. Still, later comes after her. Faith deserved it just like gun boy. Faith even had super powers. Still, the look in Buffy's eyes right afterwards shows how she violated her own view on life and death. Season 4 and 5 have tonnes of examples of her continuing to define role as judge, but this is getting long as it is. The last thing I will mention is Ben. She couldn't kill Ben. He had Glory inside, which was a threat to her and the world, but as the slayer, she couldn't judge Ben worthy of death because of it. So much of this show surrounds this notion Buffy is constantly focusing on. What does it mean to the slayer? Does it mean you are a killer? So, I understand the sentiment, and even might agree with most everyone else somewhat. I mean, Tara is to me, the best character of the show. I really hate them killing her off. I get it, just don't expect me to like it. All the same, Buffy could never agree with killing Warren. Also, the Buffyverse won't agree either. Sorry, but the show has been building that up since the beginning. Just a footnote concerning Spike. He kind of gets included here. Back in the bathroom, before what happened there happens, Spike misinterprets Buffy's saving his live as feelings of love for him. Instead, it comes back to her view of being he judge over his life. Her view has always been since season 4 that she is incapable of judging him worthy of death since he can't harm people. Even after attempting to rape her, she doesn't kill him because he can only harm her, and compared to her power, he really can't. At least not physically. She can't even judge killing him during a fight self defense. Also, there was a comment made about Buffy showing forgiveness to him by allowing Dawn to visit. I really don't think she forgives him at all. I won't bother to explain what I think her thoughts on the matter are, but I'll just say, ti came down to Dawn's safety, not forgiveness. The chip and it's not working with Buffy but still working around Dawn is part of it. There's more, but this is way too long as it is.

Jordan Haddow

Great reaction. Such a crazy episode. I have more to say about the should he die not die subject, but I tend to get long, so I'm putting it into a reply to this post. Mostly so I don't choke up the comments section. Can't wait to see the next one.

Jordan Haddow

I think this is more of a Buffy rule than an actual rule? I'm not sure, to be honest. But I agree with you regardless.

Júlia S. Spanopoulos

I never understood the being able to kill demons indiscriminately but not being allowed to do anything to humans thing. We know that there are good demons too, so why are they morally great killing demons indiscriminately, but even for such terrible humans, they can't do anything but hand them to the authorities?

Rida

I can assure you we are all ok with Willow killing Warren. And this is why we were so eager for you to get to the end of this season!

Júlia S. Spanopoulos

Warren is dead. Willow killed him…I’m ok with that!

Collete L

Best show in the world :D Love that scene with Elias. Completely agree with you on Willow and what she did.

Primus

I have always been against the death penalty. For me death of a bad guy, like in this show, is very satisfying, but I always feel like death is an easy way out. Suffering (in prison, hell like Steven suggested) is much better. But yeah, for the purposes of this show, Willow killing Warren the way she did was much more satisfying.

Primus

Just a heads up, the dropbox link doesn't seem to be working. ;)

Sofie

Buffy and willow represent the two voices inside Us in a situation like this!

Mariella Nilsson

Ok, gonna have to make Steven's prediction come true now! Yup, I am indeed against Willow killing Warren. Warren is a human who killed another human being with a gun. I'm against the death penalty, let alone vigilante violence. There's a reason we have due process, there's a reason victims don't get to choose sentences. They're good reasons! I loved Tara too. But that doesn't mean we throw away our commitment to justice and give in to vengeance and violence. I hope it's just anger speaking when people claim to be ok with this- even if someone you love is killed, that doesn't give you the moral right to hunt them down and kill them. I hope none of you would actually do this. That's how cycles of violence start. That degrades everybody involved. I'm glad Buffy has clarity about this.

Briony Addey

Oh, the iconic "Bored Now" and the most satisfying villain death in TVs history to this day. It was just as satisfying as it was shocking. No one expected her to just skin him and we all loved it. Doesn't this just make the entire season worth it? Also, double episode drop, please next, they are two-part season finale.

charmed_olive

The robot "felt" like the real Warren to Willow because of Rack (the magic drug dealer) that was one of the protection spells he did for Warren

Dan Dolan

No one objected to Willow killing Warren trust me lol

Dan Dolan

I am fully okay with what just happened.

cs

I am ok with it, an eye for an eye.. buffys point is that it Will destroy willow..

Mariella Nilsson

I've never met ANYONE that wasn't okay with what just happened, lol.

AllieDoh

That would be amazing!!

Mariella Nilsson

Dark Willow is like a guilty pleasure, we should not be okay with what she plans to do but we are all totally urging her on to kill Warren.

Gary Marshall

A fun gift would be a double episode drop next. Just saying..... :)

Corey

Oh I am fully on board with what happened lol. Season 6 gets a lot of guff and I know it hasn't been your favorite, but these last 3 episodes are soooo worth it.

Corey

"Bored now" amazing moment! Totally on board.

Stacey

I wonder why you thought we wouldn’t be rooting for his death. He killed the sweetest person on the show. Hell yeah he should die. Warren gave us dark willow and that’s all.

Jaren

I've always been totally onboard with Warren's death. Yes, please.

SuchALittleMonster

I am OK with it

Lostmyshoe22

There was no way to help Tara. It went straight through her heart and killed her instantly. It didn't with Buffy.

Izzie

Also, the beginning of this episode should clue you in on how much Willow's power has grown over the course of this season alone. It was Osiris that she summoned in both this episode to bring back Tara, and in the season premiere to bring back Buffy. There's a huge difference in the way she summoned Osiris. In the premiere, she had to jump through so many hoops, including slaying the innocent fawn and using its blood in the spell, along with enduring those trials where she had to be deemed worthy (remember her spitting up a snake at Buffy's grave). In this episode, she summoned him into this realm by her sheer will alone. And then, on top of that, she banished Osiris right back out from this realm when he refused to bring Tara back. And she didn't do it softly either. Her grief, along with the all the power she absorbed from the Dark Arts books at the Magic Shop, gave her a HUGE power-up. And in answer to your question, Warren was able to fool her with his robot only because of Rack's magical help. It's assumed that when Rack asked him if he preferred to hide or fight, one of the "hide" options he provided was a spell that allowed him to temporarily transfer his essence to his robot. Cute trick, as Willow said.

I had a laugh at the fact that he almost covered his face on the camera! 🤣 almost bad timing.

To borrow a quote from another show you've watched: "Civilization rests on the principle that we treat our criminals better than they treated their victims, that we not stoop to their level. But you and I are outliers; we're not really a part of civilization. We're something... older. Which means, of course, that we can do the things that civilized people can't. " I think you can be on board with what Willow is doing in this episode while also acknowledging that it isn't right. Buffy spends the entire episode advocating for the side of civilization, while the others argue for revenge. Was it deserved? Arguably. Was it satisfying? Most people seem to agree that it was. It's still crossing a line, and it's still murder.

Second_Strike

"Bored now." "OMG remember when she did that befo-OH!!!!" LMAOOO! The reaction I've been waiting over a month for now. Well worth it. And you would be surprised just how many of us are absolutely ok w/ what Willow did here. I don't know where you got the idea that Buffy fans didn't like that...but that's not the case. Warren deserved EVERY bit of that. And then some.

Fuiono Ching Sung

Not sure why you think everyone didn't want Warren killed? We just understand why Buffy would never kill Warren...they covered Slayers not killing humans back in Season 3 with Faith... So Dark Willow needed to happen...The violent way he was killed was shocking ..remember this aired 19 years ago.

james cedro

FULLY okay with it! Like, 10000000% fucking GLEEFUL that she did it. He deserved every single torturous millisecond of that. 😂😂 I mean, obvs at the time I first watched, I was worried about the path Willow was on, but there's never been a shred of me that disagreed w her vengeance for Tara's death (which *still* pains me, two decades later 😭). And yeah, especially love the throwback to soulless vamp Willow here.

Bixgirl1

Warren totally deserved that!

Bec van til

No problem with Willow killing Warren, I think a universal cheer went up when that was first broadcast 🙋‍♀️ I do 100% agree with Buffy's perspective on this and as she's the slayer she has to have limits on herself but this wasn't Buffy, it was Willow. Love her ❤

CeNedra

Willow did what she had to do

Calvin Allen

i don't know a single person who didn't enjoy watching warren get decimated in this episode lol.

cil

So you are finally at the point of understanding what the need of the Trio was this season. They appear as an irrelevant waste of a time trio but they end up turning up to be (especially Warren) the catalyst for Dark Willow which we got a glimpse of at the start of the season so you can see how everything sort of is coming full circle.

Tia

Nah, happier than ever to see that evil misogynist flayed alive, and even though the death was quick, he got to suffer greatly from the slow bullet.

Ghost Mom

So in real life I would not have wanted Warren to be executed and especially not by someone like Willow, but for the sake of the storyline I have to agree with everyone else. I’m all for it particularly for the sake of getting to see Dark Willow. She’s not the big bad of the season like previous seasons, but she has become a major antagonist and I’m here for it!

DaphneQueen

I know I shouldn't, but I love dark Willow. She is everything, I am 100% on her side with killing Warren. So satisfying, he did deserve it.

Brianna Dawson

Trust us when we say that almost EVERYONE is on board with Warren's exit. Probably THE MOST satisfying death on TV ever. The writers definitely delivered.
