Just for clarification. I know nobody asked but here it is: All the main characters are in their Junior year (11th grade). Both seasons 1 and 2 are in the 11th grade and seasons 3 and 4 are in the senior year. Just so there's no confusion.

2021-08-12 19:17:29 +0000 UTCwith dan keeping nathan and lucas' things in that lockbox, i think there's two sides of dan scott. i think there is a part of him that longs to have the emotional connection with people, including his kids. i don't know how capable he is of emotions/love because of the narcisism, but i think he does deep down want those feelings but there's also this block that keeps him from having those emotions and loving fully. that's always been my take on him. that he wants those things but just can't, and it upsets him that he can't. he's definitely a very interesting character. he makes my skin crawl so much but also tugs at my heartstrings which is just.....damn good writing lol i think with brooke she's just very young and very hurt and she wanted to lash out and make those who she loved who hurt her, hurt equally as much. it's a childish, tantrum type of feeling, but at the end of the day, that's what she is right now - a hurt child who is very upset and very lonely. even with this storyline, my heart hurts for her. again with nathan, he's trying to do what's right and be the person he wants to be. i think past nathan clouds judgement towards current nathan. it took me awhile to open up to him as well and not expect the worse in him. he just needs a little grace and understanding. but his words were genuine. and i like how he acknowledged things - he has been pressuring her, even if it's unintentional and even if he tries not to. because haley is pressured. maybe not actively by nathan trying to sleep with her, but by knowing he slept with past gf's by this point and would like a physical relationship. so him acknowledging that was a huge thing. i don't like celebrating guys for doing the bare minimum of being respectful but something about nathan being like "i'm not trying to pressure you but in a way, with our circumstances, i am, and i hate that and i don't like that you feel this way. i love you and i respect you and i need you to know that." i just liked that conversation a lot.

2021-08-10 17:39:59 +0000 UTCi wasn't completely sold on nathan at this point in the series and kinda agree that i thought his sudden rejection of haley's advances was some form of manipulation. without spoiling, i will say my opinion of him improved as the series went on. but in season 1, i still did not fully trust him.

2021-08-10 13:29:57 +0000 UTCI think Nathan was very sincere with Haley and I think Brooke was crying as a combination of the heartbreak she was already going through plus the emotional rollercoaster of the pregnancy scare.

2021-08-10 10:50:58 +0000 UTCBrooke crying in the end, to me was this big contradiction she has with Lucas. Obviously, she has some hatred for him and is in a lot of pain because of what he did to her. But, I think she also realized that there is a part of him that is good, based off of what he had just said to her regarding her pregnancy. And that's devastating... Because why couldn't he be that good guy when he was with her? She deserved to have that good guy and that unwavering devotion when they were actually together. And she didn't get that. At least that's how I saw that moment. And it goes hand-in-hand with this season long storyline of the fall of Lucas Scott, which I find fascinating. The other thing I want to comment on is the scene with Keith and Lucas. It is very short, but very significant in terms of how we see the relationship between Lucas and Keith. They clearly love each other so much, but aren't telling each other what is actually going on in their lives to "save each other." from those tough conversations.
