2021-08-30 04:47:02 +0000 UTCThank you! I don't think most people give Monica enough credit for just how willingly she allowed Rachel to just bulldoze her way back into her life. She literally invited herself to live with Monica without even checking if it was okay first, and all this after not even inviting her to her wedding. How many people would be that kindhearted to not hold a grudge and just accept a new roommate on the spot just like that without a second thought? The woman deserves an award, and I'm not just saying that because Monica is my favorite friend and I do believe she is underrated and deserves more recognition in general, which is completely true. I mean this garbage about her being the only cast member out of the six to not win or be nominated for an Emmy during the show's entire run? What is that about?

2021-08-28 12:42:27 +0000 UTCSame! I fell in love with it so hard as a preteen growing up in the 2010's my mother bought me the complete series boxset on Dvd which features all the extended and deleted scenes that are missing from the cut down versions they aired on TV.

I loved it so mutch I watched the entire show in about two weeks (literally). I watched the pilot episode in its extented cut many times over, so I know exactly what scenes are missing from this syndicated version.

They're all on Youtube so I'd recommend reacting to the bloopers after you react to each season if you want. They still make me roll around laughing all these years later. The cast has AMAZING chemistry and they find the lines as funny as we do so it's just pure fun energy and hilarious laughter all around.

Too bad you got spoiled on the biggest plot twist in the show, but then again with a show like Friends it's impossible to stay completely spoiler-free by this point Still, I think you'll enjoy it very much. It's iconic for a reason.

Obviously there will be some dated references and also some things are not politically correct. However, the majority of it is still very watchable. I still put it on when I'm having a bad day and just want to chuckle. Instead of comfort food...I have a comfort show.

It spanned my childhood and ended in my college years and I remember everyone talking about it on Friday every week. The only other show I can think of that had that kind of mass appeal was maybe Game of Thrones.

2021-08-19 05:32:10 +0000 UTCYour observation about sitcom characters "hanging out" is perceptive. Before this show most sitcoms were either family sitcoms or workplace sitcoms. This was the show that really cemented the genre that is actually called the "hang out sitcom". This would include things like HIMYM, 70s Show, New Girl, the much underrated Happy Endings, and even the Big Bang Theory. There were a few precursors that laid the groundwork for this Three's Company, Cheers (which was half work place, half hang out), and The Golden Girls, but this and Seinfeld were the shows that made that subgenre a staple. The elevator pitch for this show was that it was a comedy about the time in your life when your friends are your family. Very simple premise, but with great writing and casting they really caught the proverbial lightning in a bottle because this was a show that it seemed everyone (at least all white people, nod to Living Single) watched and talked about. This came out my senior year in high school and in college and the years after (when I was in the friends are your family phase of life) it truly was appointment television where everyone got together in one dorm room or apartment to watch.

I've seen it through several times in the past but it's been a while since I did a re-watch so I will definitely be following along with you. Another great sitcom you should check if you haven't is How I Met Your Mother.
