what i love about rachel is that as you can see, she doesn't need all the glits and glamour to have an amazing performance bc she's super talented and she has so much faith and confidence in her voice

This is one of my favorite episodes of season 4. I love how Rachel puts her heart and soul into everything she sings. Both songs were awsome, and she sang the hell out of my favorite Christmas song Oh Holy Night. Kurt was fantastic too so glad he got in. I really liked that Rachel called Finn she still cares about him and he really needed a pep talk to keep fighting for the glee club, the students need the club and Finn. Still don't like Kitty or Sue but great episode!

Oh gosh... Not these comments about to make me sit here and defend RACHEL and Kurt, who somehow caught strays just for being talented. A lot of hardcore Glee fans are actually theater kids and can appreciate all the musical theater songs in this show. But "O Holy Night" is literally a Christmas song, sung by many an artist including Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and yes, Josh Groban. Rachel did a magnificent job with it, especially because it is one of the hardest songs to sing imo. Yes, Kurt did sing a musical theater song, an absolutely beloved classic, "Being Alive" from Company. Despite the irony of it all, (Carmen Tibideaux mentioned that she hears Being Alive all the time in Season 3 and alluded it to being uninspiring) Kurt did an amazing job and we got to hear the lovely lower and middle register of his voice which we rarely do. And Being Alive is certainly a way to show complexity and depth. Also, NYADA is a performing arts school. I find the performances emotionally engaging and marvelous, but eh, I guess they're not for everyone. Saying that, Rachel barely danced in All That Jazz... Exactly what was that supposed to do? She did more dancing in Hot Honey Rag back in Season 2 lmao And yet, Rachel is right. She's a much better singer than Ms. July and that's where she's always been successful. "Being Good Isn't Good Enough" was stellar. I think if you don't enjoy that style of music, (sure showtunes, but mainly, the traditional pop standards) it can be difficult to acknowledge just how good Rachel is in that style. She is also extremely good at emoting. Finally, I will never not be mad about how they've been writing Tina.

i loathe how glee shoves it down everyone's throats that they're such an accepting and safe space....until someone actually has a real issue that just so happens to be "inconvenient" to the others (or rather, winning i should say). then, suddenly you aren't deserving of help and encouragement and support, you're seen as selfish and self-centered. it's one of the things that really drives me crazy about glee sometimes.

Honestly, I agree about the Rachel songs. She has a few ones that i love, but so many of them are just really, really boring to me. Like the showcase one. Yes, she's a great singer on the technical side of things, but thesee songs are always the saaaaaame and never make me feel anything.

I really hate the eating disorder storyline they did, they had some moments in the show at the beginning of the season that could have led to them writing a good storyline dealing with eating disorders. Instead they decided to use a soap opera plot of Kitty tricking Marley into developing an eating disorder, which was mostly just to lead to a dramatic moment and them losing at sectionals. Then they blame Marley for losing at sectionals without anyone seeming to care much about the seriousness of the issue and Kitty is apparently just let off the hook for it all with Santana being the only one who actually mentioned anything, then it wasn't brought up again and Kitty is hugging and singing with everyone at the end of the episode. Also, apparently Marley being yelled at and realizing she's self centered fixed her eating disorder, didn't know that was how eating disorders worked.

I don't think Sam executes any imitation well. I never know who's he doing unless the close caption mentions it. They were hinting Bram in episode 3 but since she was still officially with Santana you may haven't noticed. Here they just insulted the Brittana fandom calling them angry lesbians because they complained of the pairing. Stay classy, Glee. All Rachel songs are boring as hell with the same ambience and presentation. Can't tell one song from another. Zero dynamic. Same with Kurt. You have to be really invested in these characters to appreciate their unkown showtunes but as a regular audience, it does nothing but bore you to death. I liked the last song, Don't dream is over. It was cute and now I ship Finn and Marley. He needs to move on from Rachel.
