Exactly! S1-S2 is their junior year and S3-S4 is their senior year of high school. The basketball season is over bc they didn't make the playoffs when Lucas missed that final shot in the S1 finale, but the school year is not over at all.

2021-09-03 21:46:25 +0000 UTCi so agree! it'd have been so good for lucas and keith to have been gone for maybe several episodes, or even have them come back at a mid-season finale. it'd have felt like a pay-off and more worthwhile. them coming back one episode later felt....very "meh." and from a realistic point, keith has a new job all lined up, he's ready to start work, bought a new home, has everything moved in, is getting settled....it just feels so unrealistic for him to drop everything and go back too. i get lucas wanting to be there for nathan and haley and his mom, but with keith it's like "wait, what?" omg i totally forgot that dan woke up in that moment, lmao that was too funny and so dumb! i root for haley and nathan so much! i think it's kind of cool of her parents and i'm glad they went to them as opposed to just doing it or doing things behind their back. her mom had a very good perspective coming from a similar storyline. i mean, like i said before, if it were any other couple i'd be like "no way! y'all are in high school!" but with nathan and haley it's like a very unique situation and her parents know their daughter better than anyone so i think it's cool that they trust her so much. deb's attitude always bugs me. because if it was more like "y'all are just in high school" that would be okay, but her attitude seems to come more from that attitude some mothers have about their sons where it's this posessive relationship and dynamic that can be so toxic and i see that a lot in deb's reactions/attitude. again, i'd understand more if it was more from another perspective but it seems like she's blaming haley for taking nathan away from her when literally she abandoned him as a child, leaving him to live with his abusive father while she had a fling, etc. etc. etc. like nathan's situation is so unique. he has no family, in his mind, other than haley. deb, if i'm being honest, lost her son the moment she chose that fling over him when he was a child. i think she's just projecting losing nathan onto haley and blaming her when in reality, both dan and deb did horrible things that made nathan want to cut them from his life and cleave to the person who has been unconditionally supportive and has stood by him with that kindness and understanding that previously was lacking in his life.

I believe Lucas would've stayed with Keith if neither the heart attack nor the wedding happened. That's probably also why he told Keith the whole "because he's your brother" line - he is finally connected to his brother and wants Keith to not lose out on that.

And you're right, now Brooke and Peyton are gonna be right where they started cuz Lucas came back, which sucks and it kinda makes it seem like there was no point for everything that happened lmaoo. What really saved this episode for me was Haley and Nathan! Learning how they got married, seeing everyone disapprove but Nathan still believing, getting to see how cool Haley's parents are.. the whole thing centered on them is pretty great in this episode. I honestly never rewatch this season (it is lowkey my least favorite) so I have forgotten a lot but the drama is pretty great and there is some amazing moments overall so I can't wait to see your reactions for it.
