Yes, they do treat people badly! Thta is why lorelei don’t like to be around them, but for Rory it is always different cause they are the grandparents.

2021-09-08 14:48:51 +0000 UTCWhen I first saw this episode and kind of even still now, I couldn't tell if Rory actually wanted to go on a date and liked Logan or if really she just wanted a way into the party he was going to.

2021-09-08 09:22:31 +0000 UTCTo answer your question: no, you're not supposed to like Emily and Richard. The actress who plays Emily doesn't even find her remotely likeable. Are they interesting characters? Sure. But they also as you said think they're above other people all the time and they are judgmental and controlling towards their daughter. But to be fair, Christopher knows that too. Emily was very blunt: Lorelai is getting serious with Luke. So if Christopher comes to that vow renewal and tries to step in as Emily suggested, that is on him. That is seperate from what Emily did. She disrespected her daughter in the most irritating way and tried to ruin a relationship that is very important to her knowing how much it means to her. Christopher on the other hand doesn't have to play into it. He could just stay out of it and accept that Lorelai has long moved on.

Because even if Emily doesn't approve Lorelai's relationship, she has no right to mess with it, especially with someone like Christopher who left her high and dry so many times. I have moments where I really like Emily, but what she did here is something idk if I would forgive. It just proves to Lorelai that she was right keeping Rory from her for all these years.

2021-09-08 07:32:02 +0000 UTCEmily and Richard just keep showing their true selves and the reasons why I just don't like them. I've never felt that I was supposed to like them. Even when they have their softer moments it's almost like a fluke because they just return to being horrible people. I was so ANGRY when I saw the last scene for the first time. I was like and this is the main reason teenage Loreli grabbed her daughter and ran away. I mean Emily can't even be nice to a baby. If I was Christopher, I wouldn't want to bring my child any where near Emily just like Loreli realized she didn't want to raise Rory with Emily and Richard constantly in their lives.

2021-09-08 05:04:22 +0000 UTCSomething I just noticed and wanted to add. She said Luke could hold Lorelai back.....lady, you do know that the reason Lorelai has the inn and is thriving is BECAUSE OF LUKE?! He gave her a no strings attached loan, something you've never done, because everything comes with strings attached when it comes to the Gilmore's! The way she talks about Luke just makes me so angry! Luke has been a father figure for Rory in ways Chris has never, and will never be!

2021-09-08 03:58:16 +0000 UTCI am so mad at Emily for going to Chris and basically saying "I don't like you but you're rich and come from a wealthy family, and I'd rather my daughter be with you than with Luke who she is getting serious about, who never hurts her or lets her down but he's a working man" This is a prime example of why Lorelai fought tooth and nail to keep Rory away from them! Why she never wanted to tell them about her relationship! Even though she's clearly happy and by the looks of the scene where she picks the dress up and puts it to her chest, is thinking about marriage, that's still not enough for her parents who'd rather her be with a flake like Chris over someone like Luke who absolutely adores her.

2021-09-08 03:52:50 +0000 UTCYes they are horrible yes they are the villains...how boring would the show be without the conflict they bring. Iv never been a big fan of them I don't think ur ment to be. I think Logan is such a interesting character, he gets what he wants coz that's how he was raised. But I like how he is on the same level as Rory intellectually makes for interesting dialogue between them
