I get what you mean about Felicity. She was always a very divisive character throughout the show, as she was simultaneously the most loved and most hated character depending on who you would ask in the fandom. I personally never hated her but I did sometimes get annoyed with the way she was written. In this instance however, I do believe that her reaction was justified : as far as she’s concerned, the man she loved is as good as gone and his “replacement” just betrayed her and everyone she cares about so I think that gives her the right to be devastated for a little while. But your explanation for why you’re feeling this way is totally valid, especially since she used to be so upbeat and positive. Great reaction man, keep it up ! :)

But it just speaks to the direction the overall writing went in S3 and onward - so many things feel way over the top, the writing got really soapy and overdramatic in many instances. Which is why the quality of Arrow ebbs and flows in my opinion. And with Felicity I feel like it's the most obvious bc she always has to react to what Oliver does and he goes back and forth with the grand declarations and grand disappointments. So I would charge it to the overall writing. Like I said it also gets better, but ebbs and flows with this show ;)
