So many good songs here. I remember getting goosebumps the first time I heard Marley and Jake's A Thousand Years and Jake's version of Let Me Love You which was so pretty. I'm glad they mention men can have body issues too but otherwise the plot is meh at the moment. To be fair I feel like Glee can always have some issues with too much filler and could have benefited from shorter seasons.

the music this episode is absolutely incredible! amazing choices and some are even better than the original version imo

i actually prefer season 4 to season 5, but i think it's an unpopular opinion! (mostly bc i don't like the dynamic of one of my favorite character in s5 and one that i love is not here + cory not being here really is so sad...)

Glee after season 3 just flopped, great music and some small nice moments but overall seasons 4-6 are just not it

Michelle

Season 4 is a minefield, but I think season 5 is better and season 6 is almost like a reboot in the sense it recaptures some of the magic glee had in the beginning, so it's worth hanging on for.

dude if you listen to all these songs you have GREAT taste :)

I have to disagree with some things here. I think glee has done some pretty outrageous and unbelievable storylines before this. Maybe you need a week break to cleanse the taste of glee

Angel Garcia

The way I see it is that season 4-6 of Glee is a parody of season 1-3. That being said I still find the later seasons enjoyable as long as you accept that the realism from the previous seasons is kinda gone.

Glee even from the get go has been wildly uneven, part of that is the nature of the type of show it is. But there is no question that the show is far worse. Look at most of the stories, that are part of this episode. Each individual is a story that could easily been done. But most of them are handled seriously over the top. As for the calendar, I thought that would never happen, certainly back 40 years ago when I was in high school. But I have seen some schools do it. Usually all in some form of something that they would normally wear. Swimmers in swims suit, football players wearing the pads and the pants, ect. But its not something that most schools would be comfortable doing. Rachel's story (even though again over the top) is the probably the one I understand the most. While I wasn't a performance major, I was a vocal major, and we had a lot of interaction with the performance side of school including the purely theatre side. And there was a bunch of people who pushed themselves into serious performance and part of that was doing nude material. I remember one of my friends did nearly a full act of a play nude, and he was painfully shy, but for the school a very strong actor. And he did it to show that he could (of course that was for a live audience, I don't think he would have done it for a video. There is an aspect especially early in your higher education for performance about pushing yourself past what you are comfortable with (this is both from yourself but also from professors). For myself, I was always good at dark dramatic pieces. So I pushed myself into doing broad comedy, and that was something I never, ever, ever thought I would do. On the issue of the kids saying I love you (and progress on their relationships). I agree for the most part I don't think its earned. But least I be a hypocrite, by episode 12 of season 1. We had actually more characters state how serious they felt about another person. Of course we also got more time to focus on them (even with the first half of season one giving far more focus to Will, Teri, Emma, Sue, Ken then what we see the teachers get currently). Simply put Glee was too successful to cut ties with all of its cast, but had dropped enough from its peak ratings that Fox didn't think 2 shows could survive. So we are left with a hodgepodge. And rarely will you see material get treated as seriously as it might have done in seasons 1-3, even with the crazy that also happened. I absolutely wouldn't make the comparison with Game of Thrones. While a lot of people hate season 8 (and parts of season 6 and 7), most parts of each episode are still exceptionally well made (there are a couple of WTH moments), but the single biggest issue is that the events of season 8 aren't allowed to breathe. Those 6 episodes, even being far longer each episode than most previous seasons completely depart from the basic pacing structure of most of the rest of the series. But most of the individual scenes are still well done. That isn't the case with Glee. Where each individual scene can be wildly uneven.

Classic Glee is Season 1-3. Some of the best episodes of Seasons 4-6 is when the episodes focus on members of the original cast. It feels like these new characters don't get that much character developement and it doesn't help these new characters are clearly meant to have the characterization of original characters from Seasons 1-3. In my opinion the second half of this season is better but I won't spoil why I think that. Season 5 is kind of rough to watch because I feel like it is clear there were storylines that had to be rewritten due to Cory's death (I feel like the second half of the season 5 is the better half of the season). Season 6 has some good episodes but also has some episodes that are skippable.

Glee in a nutshell. Great music crappy storylines

Mrs Payne

No need to apologize for your thoughts David. You have very valid critiques for the show. Love it or hate it Glee loses the spark we all loved about this show in season 4. Unfortunately the Glee we loved before will never be again and the new characters will not get what they deserve in terms of story. With that being said, there will be better episodes to come especially if you enjoy the original core characters including Mercedes.

I love this episode (and season 4, i prefer it over season 1 tbh) (mostly because of the music). Also i i think you maybe should stop watching, if so many stuff bothers you already. Season 5 is gonna have a lot more stuff from what you dont like haha. Anyway i dont think glee got more out there or unrealistic. Season 1-3 also had really weird moments and wasnt also really that realistic. but thats glee (A comedy musical, with sometimes serious moments), you take for what it is. Also that the show takes place at two places, was never a problem to me. I honetsly prefer it this way

It’s get better with the old cast members. It kind of turns into two shows sort of.

MONIAH ADAMS

I literally forgot this episode exists... A skippable one indeed. But the music is top notch. Jake's Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself) has always been a standout to me and is probably in my top ten of best solos on Glee.

I Am Not Chamari

i warned you man πŸ˜” sadly season 3 is the last season that i could fully watch every episode. the writers got really lazy and just effed up the whole thing. the only episodes i enjoy after season 3 are the ones where the old characters come back. i can fully say that it’s honestly not gonna get better. especially after cory monteith aka finn dies, they went really downhill. but like i said there’s a few episodes each season that are a solid 9 for me
