absolute power corrupts, I think your a little hard on Chloe, I think if many people had the power to draw the truth out from people, they would do what Chloe does in this episode. That and it was Kryptonite ability which has been shown to make people go some what nuts. I think you throw in Lana or Lex getting this power and they would have used the power to try to get all the secrets out.

yeah, Chloe just sucks but she is growing as a character

Humans exposed to kryptonite often develop a detachment from reality and are obsessed with following their instincts and desires. This obsession and lack of attachment to reality is why people with powers that can be used offensively often become murderous, but people with more passive powers or a more stable view of reality don't. Chloe here didn't go all murder happy because she's got a firm sense of reality and her biggest desire at this point in time was print the truth in the torch, and with her ability not being something that she can control to be more offensive in terms of combat, she didn't go all murder happy. Yeah, Kryptonite has some negative effects on the psyche of some people. One thing to keep in mind is that most likely, the kryptonite infected people we see aren't how the majority of the infected act. But what happened to Chloe wasn't just her being her, it was the worst parts of her being brought out by the combination of the kryptonite and the temptation having a cheat code to journalism poses.

Loved the scene where Lionel confesses to Chloe. His reaction, was incredible. It wasn't even fear for himself, or anger even. He was just.... I can't really find the perfect word. Maybe dismay? In that moment I think all he could think was... "well you just killed yourself, why would you do that?" She should have been ecstatic at the end there when she found out he was able to get the message deleted, cause I can't imagine he would have left her alive otherwise. Even now, he knows she still knows. Pretty terrifying.

Yah but i too thought this was all chloe. She is just such a bright and driven character and the main thing she loves is journalism and now she has a cheat code to being the best at what she loves doing. Yah that was all chloe just doing things without really thinking of the consequences as teenagers usually do

Thats an interesting take. I never thought of it that way

I think a lot of people forget that the presence of Kryptonite, especially in more potent forms (gas or liquid) can have a very negative affect on the brain and a person's emotions -- many can overcome this, but it takes awareness and conscious effort; and sometimes a lot of therapy. While a truth serum is one of Chloe's temptations (as an investigative reporter) and she's still young / got in over her head, a lot of what made her bad or lacking remorse this episode was the Kryptonite. She is not herself. The Kryptonite brought out the worst in her, and then some.

Steven another big thing to remember here is that Lionel is still terminally ill, which was why he wanted to kill himself a couple episodes back, he's too prideful to let an "illness" kill him. This is why he's so enthusiastic and eccentric about finding out what clark is hiding and the answers to the unknown, such as his visit to Dr. Virgil Swan (Christopher Reeves). But I just wanted to highlight that because they haven't mentioned his illness in a while and you watch only once a week while simultaneously watching many other shows that you could possibly forget that important aspect of the show

Not commenting on the cloe thing cause im sure others have already made my point. my thing is... you need a pair of thoes blue light glasse for computer screens. they are cheap on ZENNI & GOGGLES4U.

I mean sorry but regarding the teacher, I feel no sympathy for her. She decided to be a part of a group that plants bombs that killed someone. Sorry. Chloe was a badass this episode, made me love her even more. Yes, she was ruthless but the pursuit of truth always is. Also she got Lionel's confession so we confirmed that is the truth. And no offence Steven, just because she outed someone you vouch for her being hurt and possibly killed by rooting for that kid to run her off the road. Haha, I don't think you have the moral high-ground on that one. Even though you were funny. Which just proves we all have a little evil inside us.

Primus

Facts. I honestly was going to say something you perfectly summarized it πŸ‘Œ

john segun doe

Very much so. Plus shes a teenager, we all know they never tend to think too deeply on the consequences of their actions due to their immaturity. Dont get me wrong I called chloe a bitch like 3 different times while watching this ep but she aint a β€œbad” person shes just a ruthless young dreamer who hangs on the fact that to be a great reporter you gotta do what u gotta do. Very practical indeed. Imo its super one dimensional and simplistic to call chloe β€œbad”

john segun doe

I never comment on these but had to pop in and say man I think you're just a tad hard on the 17 year old girl here. I mean, I'm thinking of myself at 17. What was my greatest flaw? For Chloe, it's her blind-to-human-impact pursuit of truth. What if I had suddenly gotten magic powers that accentuated my flaw *perfectly* and yet allowed me to achieve all my goals? I suspect 17 year old me (or you!) would not have handled that very well. As for Chloe, yeah she was a dick here. By the end she seems to realize that, so we'll see if it impacts her behavior going forward and can judge her based on that. Teenagers aren't old and bitter and set in their ways yet, they can still learn and grow! So yeah. I'm with you on 'Chloe was a jerk' but I can't get to 'Chloe is evil' or 'This is just who she is she'll never change.' Great content my dude.

Nerd Going Outside

Out of all the things Chloe did what got me the most was that she outed someone in high school well before he was ready and there was no remorse just β€œoh that was surprising β€œ from her.

Samantha Bailey

I like Chloe's story in this episode because its so damn practical. If you're a young dreamer type that typically has people's best interests at heart (with providing truth to the masses, that is) but the world has kicked you down, back to back--as it has done her and her family over the past year, you're going to take these wrongfully-acquired truths as wins. And walk away with a smile. I dont like the way she misused the power or approve but it is just that damn practical. I think it would be enough story for the episode, if she were just acquiring the truth and thats it. But it wouldnt be within her journalistic character if she didnt spread that information. Its not evil. Its more like, satisfying; for her.

Laugh Data

I don't think you're being too harsh on Chloe. She was pissing me off in this episode.
