To explain why Silas had to destroy what they call the Anchor, we know Tessa created the Other Side. Tessa used Amara, an immortal being, as the binding tool for the spell. You kill Amara, the Other Side ceases to exist, because there's no anchor keeping it in existence. The spell would lose all its power. Tessa knew that Silas wouldn't be able to kill Amara, and now Amara, who has been moved around for two thousand years, cannot be alive any longer.

2021-09-26 14:11:30 +0000 UTCTo each their own, but I REALLY enjoy the Silas/Qetsiyah/Amara stuff and The mythology of The Other Side and the Anchor. Generally, supernatural death is exciting on this show to me, but now they're really getting into the nitty gritty of it since we have Bonnie on The Other Side. Silas is also just a lot of fun and I like Qetsiyah too. This business is my second favorite storyline of the season after the "Augustine" storyline, which I agree is very interesting. I still think Season 5 is one of the weaker seasons, but the beginning of the season is really good to me. We never saw Amara dead. We saw her place covered in blood and her "heart, " but Qetsiyah is crazy enough to have just straight up killed someone else lol Also, I cannot believe I didn't think of this before, but the whole reason why doppelgangers are recreated is so there is a version of them that can die. I bought into the whole Silas story about nature trying to recreate their love, but they are really only trying to recreate human versions that can die. Of course, Amara is still alive. That's the only reason Katherine and Elena could exist. And yes, that guy's blood works, since he was very recently deceased. Immortal beings need blood to survive and that's how Silas came back to life. Katherine and Caroline working together was great. To think about how far their dynamic has come since the beginning of Season 2... Gotta love that.

It's honestly quite boring to me. I am however quite intrigued by the Silas, Amara, Qetsiyah, and the other side situation. That's been building since we first learned about the other side and doppelgangers.
