It is because we are supposed to look at Bauer as a protagonist of the show, someone who's always right no matter how irrational his theories come out to be at a time (from the perspective of the characters of the show). The characters, however, wouldn't look at Bauer like we do. The same way you or I won't just blindly trust anyone.

2022-01-05 23:16:06 +0000 UTCThe problem with that is that most characters seem to go out of their way to stop Bauer from doing anything. With CTU help this would have been a much shorter season and he is right being upset with the characters doubting Bauer.

2022-01-05 17:22:44 +0000 UTCEvery character has their own motivation, their definition of what's right and what's wrong, and their own level of how much they are going to trust Bauer's word. With the information they have now, Mike, Lynn, and the Vice President are in the right to suspect the President's seeming inability to make a tough decision. As far as they are concerned, the entire US intelligence committee declared the Cyprus recording to be true. To them, Jack Bauer's not willing to let go and pulling on threads that will lead nowhere and they are losing the element of surprise by not attacking the Middle Eastern countries immediately. TL;DR: every character has their motivation and level of trust they are willing to put in Bauer. So it is understandable why they would oppose to Bauer's perspective. Nobody has to trust Bauer just because he says so (without providing evidence).
