But I love how much all the characters change. Again not gonna spoil anything because I don't do that but I have watched this show like 3-4 times and love it even more every time

2022-02-27 02:21:46 +0000 UTCThe word is "surrogacy," all right, but it doesn't mean what you apparently think it means. (Sorry, I don't mean to be blunt, just clear.) In a surrogate pregnancy, a plan is made ahead of time for a woman to carry a baby, using her egg or an egg donor's, and a sperm donor (who might be one of the partners who'll be receiving the baby). There's also "adoption" (like the one they were hoping for in Mexico), whereby an arrangement is made for a pregnant woman to give her baby to someone who wants a child. But to just voluntarily give up one's baby, conceived with one's husband, to someone else in the family (her stepson in this case) -- that essentially never happens, and it was never going to happen with Gloria. (Imagine the awkwardness at all future family gatherings, forever.) This is Jay and Gloria's child, period. The fast-forward near the end is one of the most wonderful things the series ever did. The season begins the morning following Season 3 (spring), and then suddenly we fast-forward several months -- the whole summer! Gloria is "showing," Cam and Mitchell had their trip to London, Phil has grown his beard. It's a beautiful way to deal with the fallout from Gloria's surprise, and still begin the season in September (when network TV seasons begin). Great episode, great reaction.
