Plus the writer really lacked in investing in pete. As much as a fukn adore this show soo much that always left a sour taste. Because for these 3 seasons they invested in chloe, lana, the parents, Lionel, but barely put time in for pete. Even though he barely had screen time he executed the role well

2021-10-13 07:26:06 +0000 UTCPete leaving is a bit abrupt but if you look across the past 3 seasons, the show has evolved into being about Clark, Chloe, Lana, and Lex with then the parents. Pete always felt left out and would just be Clark's best friend who tags along. Chloe got more involved in the plot and with Clark as well so Pete's storylines got reduced and his screen time hasn't been there. He didn't have any meaningful relationships with characters on the show besides having a hidden crush on Chloe but even the show points out how we never really noticed it. Pete just no longer fit where the show was headed, especially as we approach the final school year. Things are changing and season 4 especially is a time where things are different with the new things added and changed.

Lex eventually becomes President in the comics briefly, and Pete Ross becomes Vice President. Lex is impeached and Pete becomes Vice President before resigning himself.
