2021-11-03 04:15:43 +0000 UTCbro this is a young lois lane, not the Established lois lane's in the movies. You have to give room for the character to develop

2021-11-03 04:14:25 +0000 UTC*Spoilers* She could come of as annoying at first because she is pushy, sarcastic etc, but Lois in the comics, cartoons, and films can be like that to but it's just that she channels alot of it into the reporting and has matured more in the personal area. Here her and Clark are like oil and water and she is there to call him on his crap and then gradually evolve into friends etc . And I personally think she grows a lot during the series while still keeping the essence of what makes her Lois Lane from the other media.

2021-10-28 22:04:58 +0000 UTCEarlier they do mention him having a high white blood cell count and in the s3 episode where Van is trying to kill Meteor freaks they discuss the possibility of Lex being one and how he has survived the Meteor shower, the bridge car crash, and the plane crash and now it includes the poisoning.

2021-10-28 21:53:15 +0000 UTCYeah I would agree, I would divide it 1,2, 3, then 4, 5, 6, 7, then 8, 9, 10.

2021-10-28 21:49:11 +0000 UTCWhat! I didn't know that! That's hilarious, it's kind of like how Kevin Sorbo and Dean Cain both auditioned for Clark in the 90's Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman series. Cain got the role and then Sorbo went on to star in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Seems everybody wants to play Clark Kent.

2021-10-27 22:26:41 +0000 UTCYou're not wrong, traditionally in canon Clark first meets Lois at the Daily Planet when he's hired as journalist. But he also traditionally meets Lex as an adult in Metropolis as well, so Smallville has already established that characters in their interpretation can show up early. Lois is also a bit older than Clark. In this version she is one year older than Clark. As for Lois's personality, I think the right word to describe her is "tenacious". Your assessment is correct, she totally gets into people's spaces, and does not care if she is rude or breaking social norms. What I enjoy about this version of Lois is that the writers are doing a pretty good job of saying "Here is Lois. She's a completely flawed woman on a mission. She's not here to be liked". Lois is introduced as person and not a romantic lead. I also wasn't sure what to think of Lois when she first showed up but she grew to be my favorite interpretation of Lois. I'm really interested to see how you react to her as the series goes on.

2021-10-27 22:18:07 +0000 UTCAs many have said you shouldn't pull to much from what little superman knowledge you have. Smallville it takes from the comics but makes its own thing so everything happens different, with the same end goal as the comics. Lois has always been thought to be older than Clark because she is usually already a well known reporter by the time Clark shows up. In the movies both Amy Adams and Margot Kidder are older than the Clark Kent actors. Here she is only about 1 year, maybe a 1 and half years older. (Well they never say her exact age they do hint she was senior last year and Clark a senior this year). Lois here is foreshadowing her future as a reporter with her personality traits. Well it may come off annoying at first it, it also achieves the goal of giving both Clark and the viewer a shock to the system lol and shows that the show is now changing. Also, Lois is always portrayed as Clarks (not superman as in powers and such) equal which mean she will go toe to toe with him, so be prepared for that. Erica Durance is my personal favorite Lois Lane.

2021-10-27 20:29:32 +0000 UTCI watched Smallville as it aired and was NOT a fan of Smallvilles version of Lois Lane. Lois in the movies was strong willed but not annoying. The way that they wrote Lois for Smallville was purely annoying. Clark is the Protagonist as well, the audience sees things from his eyes. If Clark thinks she is annoying, so will the audience. I think they made a mistake with how they wrote her for this series. BUT I’m gonna give it a second go, and try to watch it again with you and see if I see things differently the second go around. Maybe I’ll be convinced that Smallvilles Lois is better for Clark than Smallvilles Lana. I’m not holding my breathe :-/

2021-10-27 19:12:14 +0000 UTCYou guys think maybe he isn't vibing with Lois' introduction? I couldn't really tell

2021-10-27 13:26:48 +0000 UTCTrue. It may be a small town but not that small. Plus its not like they had flyers out for clark and people knew he was missing

2021-10-27 09:09:39 +0000 UTCNot everyone is going to know everyone in a town with tens of thousands. But the hospital staff would know. women's name who husband has been in a coma in their hospital for 3 months... Just saying.

2021-10-27 07:38:09 +0000 UTCAnd for those who are curious. Lana is older then the age of consent here, so no law is broken.
Mark Wood
2021-10-27 07:35:10 +0000 UTCLois at least since the 70's (never paid that much attention to Earth 2 or Earth 1 early history) is always a seasoned reporter that Clark meets when he first gets his first real job as an adult. Now his adult career might be delayed a little from normal due to his other activities, but in general assume that Clark is 2 - 4 years Lois' junior. But on the show's its fairly close. And yes she's older.

2021-10-27 07:33:11 +0000 UTCSame i was like wtf. He was just on smallville. And what was cool was it aired on the same nights

2021-10-27 06:07:53 +0000 UTCHey Steven quick fun fact back in 2001 when smallville came out and they were doing auditions, the role of clark kent literally came down to Tom Welling and Jensen Ackles and they went with Tom.

2021-10-27 06:04:05 +0000 UTCSo Black Kryptonite is a form of refined Kryptonite that can separate the personalities of a single being into two separate beings. This Kryptonite is created by heating Green Kryptonite to extremely high temperatures.

2021-10-27 06:00:03 +0000 UTCThings that you had a problem with on the Lois character, things like just barging into the Kent house, being, nosy, being pushy, sarcastic, assertive, etc. That pretty much is Lois from the comics. For me the characterization is pretty spot on. And yes, they play with the timeline of when they meet and they make her Chloe’s cousin (Chloe didn’t exist in the comics at that time). Those things are a little different, but the characterization is pretty spot on I’d say. In real life Tom is older than Erica but in the show while Lois is older than Clark I don’t think it’s supposed to be by that much. maybe a year or two. I’m pretty sure that Lois is older in the comics too because she’s a lead, seasoned writer for the daily planet where Clark is a low level junior reporter.

2021-10-27 05:59:01 +0000 UTCYep season 4 is gonna be a strange one it reminds me of season 4 of Buffy, not my favorite overall story arch but the one offs are a lot of fun.

2021-10-27 05:46:02 +0000 UTCWelcome to the Smallvilleverse. This version of Loise Lane is Impulsive, very nosy and very insistent, which is what becomes her traits as a good reporter. Yea at first I wasn't to fond of this Loise mainly the age difference and the fact they meet before Clark becomes Superman but eventually she grew on me. About Lex, they never really mention it very thorough but he has Kryptonite poising since he lost his hair and I guess he has a very high immune system like never gets sick and can come back from being poisoned.

2021-10-27 05:13:09 +0000 UTCThis show plays fast and loose with established Superman canon. Best to just roll with it, lol. (Though Lois being portrayed as a bit older than Clark is actually pretty typical) And yeah, Lois comes on a little strong here, but in general she's pretty great, imo.

2021-10-27 04:59:42 +0000 UTCSo this is one of the big turning points of the show. I would say there are 3 total segments of the show and now you are entering the 2nd segment. You have 3-4 seasons of this segment left before the show evolves again but you may start to see the differences in storylines, character dynamics, and tone as we go through season 4. There is an episode in season 4 specifically that marks a big turning point in my opinion for Clark and what stories the show tackles.

2021-10-27 04:11:46 +0000 UTCLois is a fan favorite character for sure and smallville does her representation great justice!

2021-10-27 04:03:08 +0000 UTCYAY! You finally meet Lois! I LOVE HER SO MUCH!! While I agree she did come on a little strong in this episode, she does grow on you and it doesn't take long.😍

2021-10-27 03:55:37 +0000 UTCERICA DURANCE is an awesome Lois. That pushiness IS Lois, part of what makes an ace reporter, just like Cloe.

2021-10-27 03:51:34 +0000 UTCWhen Supernatural started one of the reasons I was excited in seeing the show was because Jensen had been on Smallville.

2021-10-27 03:38:53 +0000 UTCLOISSSSS. Finally! Favorite female character on the show and one of my favorite characters in it's entire run. Erica really made this character her own and let Lois's sarcastic, quick, and even heartfelt side shine. Love her!

2021-10-27 03:35:48 +0000 UTCLois is probably my favorite character on the later seasons

2021-10-27 03:30:17 +0000 UTCLois is usually always older than Clark. In the versions where they meet at the Daily Planet for the First time she is usually a seasoned reporter. Tom Welling is actually older IRL by a year to Erica. He was born 1977 her 1978. So in s1 Tom was about 24 playing 14 so here he is 17. His Bday is near the end of the school year so end of s1(15), s2(16), s3(17), so in s4 he is 17(27 IRL) and turns 18 at end of the year. They don't say specifically I believe but Lois is 18-19ish here and Erica about 26 IRL. So what you are seeing might just be that she looks 26ish maybe but he has a face that kinda makes him look a bit younger.

2021-10-27 03:16:45 +0000 UTCYeah it's got to be taken as it's own thing. Because it's a 10 season origin they introduce certain things earlier and in different ways than some of the original stuff. It's an alternate reality else world's type version of the Superman Origin combining elements from bits of either Clark(Human Apperance like the show) or (Clark as Superboy like in the 50's etc) from the comics, combined with references and homages to the Superman comics, films, tv shows cartoons and mixing it up and doing it in their own way. Some great, some not so much(depending on opinions, budget and restrictions from DC and WB). Despite all that though I've been a huge Superman fan since I was a kid watching the Reeves films and the 90s cartoons and Smallville is still one of my all time Favorite Superman related contents and one of my Favorite series along side, Buffy/ Angel and Supernatural.
TheMew
2021-10-27 03:02:58 +0000 UTCAnd Lois does have an uphill battle against what we've already seen with Clark and Lana. But its the classic tale of opposites attract. Lana and Clark are too similar, to somber, and are always ready to keep secrets. Lois comes in as this straight shooting no bullshit thorn in Clark's side and they both need to grow into secretly loving that they argue. Just let it develop.
Max
2021-10-27 03:02:57 +0000 UTCI always feel like they introduced Lois similar to how they did Ahsoka in clone wars. They each start out annoying, spunky, and sarcastic. They each disrupt the status quo of the protagonists we already have established, questioning them when we the audience are like "You just got here, shut up." But they both grow into strong fan-favorite characters.
Max
2021-10-27 02:59:04 +0000 UTC"I thought they..." bro, you gotta stop trying to plant what little knowledge of Superman you have onto the show. you just have to just let the story take you where it needs to go. if the idea of Lois showing up already triggers you, then you are going to have a ROUGH time with this show once the teeny drama phase is over

2021-10-27 02:46:53 +0000 UTCBack in 2004 I was watching live on TV. I had just moved from Upstate NY to FL to USF and was excited watching and when she said Lois Lane I was all in on Erica Durance as Lois. Oh and I loved how she said "Do they even have addresses?" I was like yup THAT is Lois. Her look and attitude sold it for me as a fan despite the change to mythology. When I was watching this reaction I was like you do know Lois has always been a pushy, assertive, take no crap, character with a Glib attitude but also a caring soft side?
