i don't mind the sam things... he was always the "stupid" character just like brittany and everything they say is so crazy that it's hilarious! and tbh, it's glee, every character is saying/doing crazy things! i think it was weird to have marley sing her song with sam and even blaine? it's not like they've been super close... i would have expected unique with jake and ryder tbh

2021-12-02 21:15:40 +0000 UTCit's crazy how cory/finn's last episode had him reuniting with his best friend and having a cute talk with rachel, having this talk with mr schue and trying to get his life back together + rachel singing don't stop believing and having them re do the season 1 episode 1 performance with the original glee cast.... it's really beautiful

2021-12-02 21:13:57 +0000 UTCI don't think they made light of the situation but I do think they didn't give it genuine follow through with real care especially considering the timing of when this all aired. I do not think they should have done the almost shooting part at all.

2021-11-04 07:52:28 +0000 UTCTiming-wise, the previous episode aired after the Sandy Hook shooting... :/ I think people, including myself, ended up drawing negative comparisons because the real life Sandy Hook shooter was autistic and with Becky having Down Syndrome, there was criticism about what kind of message that was sending about people with developmental disabilities. And it being followed by this episode... didn't help much. It seemed to be just a one-off episode with no long-term repercussions, which is not very realistic. I'm going to ignore the whole Sam thing... Mr. Schue has consistently getting worse since the first season. At least in Season 1, there were some fun moments, next to all the cringe and questionable teaching moments. But now, he just plain sucks. Like, the Unique boob comment was very weird and uncalled for,,, like sir? Also, let your students have ideas? Like, this is not a dictatorship. The funny thing about this episode is that they are finally actually doing a Funny Girl revival on Broadway and when the news was announced, Lea Michele started trending because she really did want to play Fanny Brice in real life. But, she will not be. Jane Lynch (Sue) is in the revival though! That Rachel and Finn phone call actually breaks my heart. Rachel: I wish you would have stayed and hung around a little longer. Finn: Next time. I promise. Knowing that this was Cory's last episode and that there wouldn't be a next time, hurts more than I'd ever think it did.

2021-11-04 07:48:27 +0000 UTCWhen you talk about them making light of the shooting, to be fair, the only one who made a joke of it was Coach Roz. And the only reason for that was Sue wasn't there to do it. They are both such caricatures that you can't really get annoyed by anything they say, because nothing they say is can be taken seriously. Both the others that were there when her joke was said, Will and Beiste were quick to point out how serious it was, and that they were terrified by the shooting too. The Sam story line is horrible. Why do they do this? This character is not what they have made him into. This statement can be said of many characters. My main criticism is snarky Will. I have a huge problem with shows that like to show teachers being really rude (not counting Sue, for aforementioned reasons) to students. I really wish they would have shown Will coming back from his coffee break to an empty room. They needed to walk out. As for Cory's last episode, I get that it stinks being his last episode, but they can't really choose, given they didn't really know the actor was going to unexpectedly pass away. Shit happens sometimes, unfortunately. I'm sure they were planning some great story lines with his return, and actually becoming a teacher, but like real life, sometimes things don't go to plan. And sometimes life just sucker punches you in the stomach. It sucks. I would have loved to see Finn become a teacher. I would have loved to see what Cory had in store. Same with Naya.

2021-11-04 06:57:08 +0000 UTCI agree with you saying that comedy was too much for this episode after doing such a serious subject matter last episode. That is why I said I had mixed emotions about the last episode because I knew this episode would follow it. I know Glee is a light show but I think when you commit to doing a serious subject matter you need to follow through. And yes Finn Hudson was played by Cory Monteith. Unfortunately, this ended up being his last episode because the actor had some personal issues and tragically and unexpectedly died. Sam will have some serious moments to come. More so in season 5 but for the most part I feel they neglect Chord Overstreet's talent and play his character for the not so smart pretty boy more often than not for the laughs. With all that being said there will be things to enjoy in coming episodes. The show is just different for the rest of the series.
