DL is obviously a strong man and Niki knows Jessica could handle him. Tbh Niki's life is so stressful it's probably relieving to let Jessica handle the situation and she's a little more resourceful and very determined.

You said "Nathan didn't wanna cheat" and "maybe he's sexually frustrated and he needed to blow off some steam". I'm only speculating here but it didn't seem like the night with Niki was the first time Nathan cheated. Nathan doesn't seem very remorseful. When his wife confronted him he lied to her face. I know you said their situation doesn't excuse it but it kinda sounded like you gave him a free pass. He absolutely knew what he was doing and wanted to do it.
