How old was Whitney? Good question. In the pilot one could assume he's the same age as the core gang and a freshman, because Lana was helping him with his homework and it was stated that they were a couple "for a long time". But when he left at the end of S1, he joined the Marine Corps which means he was 18 and a a senior. Let's just say that they didn't really think this through and Lana may have a thing for older men.

Here's the problem with Clark playing football: Even if he doesn't run faster than other best kid in his state, even if he doesn't throw farther than the best kid in his state, he'd still have an unfair advantage: No matter how long the game, no matter how often he gets tackled: He doesn't hurt, he doesn't ache, he doesn't tire. Due to his advanced hand-eye-coordination the ball will also always fly exactly where he throws it, without fail.

I think the Talon goes back to being a cafe because Lex couldn't bring himself to sell it out of fondness for Lana (he mentions this briefly in the season premiere). In regards to Chloe, I believe she was designed to be a Lois stand in, as the creator's had no idea how long the show would go and if the real Lois would show up. So the similarities make sense. I remember when Lois showed up I was a bit concerned about Chloe, but the writers, IMO, do a good job of giving Chloe her own development.

Steven in S4 premiere: "I don't like her. I hope she's not the real Lois." Steven in S4 ep3: "I sorta wish Lois was part of the OG crew. She kinda seems like she would've fit." By George, I think that's progress! πŸ˜‰

I wouldn't normally be this direct because of spoilers but we have all already talked about them being a slow burn. The moment at the end is just foreshadowing of Clark and Lois. It was less about the present and more about the future. It's just showing there is a connection with them and Chloe sees it even if they don't.

One thing I love about this show is it doesn't rush the Clark and Lois thing.
