But since her last pregnency where unplanned and she was so Young I understand her freaking out!

Mariella Nilsson

Everyone has pretty well covered almost everything, but although unsaid, Loralai finding out she wasn't pregnant was because she got her period. We haven't gotten to the point where period talk is appropriate on tv, so we will just say it in veiled hints. If she was two days late, and usually regular, yeah, I can see why she was freaked out, but I agree that it was premature.

Shannon Hartman

I agree, but also Mitchum tears down everyone, I don’t think he can operate any other way.

I am annoyed with Rory for taking his criticism so badly that she stole a boat and got arrested. I'm not saying it's not devastating to hear but damn girl. It's a tough world out there. People are always gonna tell you that you don't have what it takes. Have a thicker skin than that. Prove him wrong. Don't just lie there and give up. She's had a very sheltered life where everyone has always praised her so I get why she reacted the way she did, though. But she's gotta be tougher than that if she wants to be a journalist. Get drunk, party it up, binge on chocolates, just don't get arrested!! What the hell, Rory!?!?

I'm on the fence on Mitchum. On one hand, I feel like he's using a more passive aggressive method than his wife to get to Rory. On the other, maybe what he said was actually true in some way. Yeah, Rory's a great writer but does that translate to being a good journalist? He had no way of judging her writing, which is why I think he never mentioned it. But he did judge her instincts, which, to be fair, can't be properly judged here either as she was taken on as an intern to basically be a secretary for a while. It's fair of her to assume she had no place to join in on a staff meeting. But, knowing Rory as a character, I don't think she's Cristiane Amanpour either. She wouldn't do well in war zones or chasing after horrific stories in deep underbellies, which is what she's stated as what she wants to do. But can Mitchum really know that about her from the way she gets coffee for him and how she didn't pipe in during a meeting at a proper newspaper as their new intern? No, I don't think so, no matter how great his instincts about people are. I think, end of the day, Mitchum wanted to tear Rory down and unlike his wife who attacked at dinner, he went a different route and aimed for the jugular.

Same. And people still blame Logan for her behavior when she herself chose that path.

I think the problem with Mitchum's opinion is mostly how Rory takes it. This is one man's opinion, he even said that himself. Rory has just been so sheltered from any critique in her life that this gets to her way more than other people who would've just not taken it as such an important thing. But I agree the period of time was way too short to make this kind of assessment, Mitchum was too harsh. He could've referred her to a mentoring program or make this a teaching moment on how to be more assertive, but he just made the comment and bounced. Shows you that Lorelai was right all along - this was just "hush money" for him, he doesn't care about Rory as a person.

i always thought the mystery town elder with towel over his head, was a star wars reference/joke alluding to him being obi wan: i knew luke's father...

Though I think Mitchum's opinion was very honest and kinda right about what a good journalist should be like. I think it wasn't fair for him to say "she ain't got it" after only having interning as a shadow/assistant a couple weeks 🤔 Rory's reaction to it wasn't the best either with the boat stealing lol but Logan should have stopped her. I am very excited for what is gonna come next episode and s6 overall!

Logans dad. Is who he is, wheter it was right or wrong of him to say that to Rory, it was NOT a good way for Rory to hear it. She needed a more nuanced and constructive critisism, what she could work on and what she did good, she wasn’t asking him to play god and tell her about her future.. also her work at the yale newspaper already showed that she is good. A good partner should not help you steal a boat when you’re having a mental breakdown, they should ground you and be a voice of reason.

Mariella Nilsson

I agree. It's maybe been a couple weeks interning/shadowing. I also wouldn't be interjecting unless they told me ahead of time that they want me to.

Wow the nostalgia I just felt when you mentioned Lorelai's phone is crazy lol. The cat on her phone was Baby Phat. It wasn't a case it was the actual phone itself because Baby Phat did a colab with Motorola back in the early 2000's. I was around 16 when they came out and wanted one so bad but back then I had to earn it with good grades or pay for it myself and getting good grades to earn it was never going to happen I was a horrible student in high school and by the time I was able to afford to buy my own phone the trend was over so I ended up getting a sidekick 2 instead.

Sean Gunn’s chest looks like that because he has a condition called pectus excavatum

Mitchum was direct and honest with his opinion of Rory being a good journalist, however while she’s been interning with him it’s been a shadowing/assistant type position and not as a writer (I could be wrong but I don’t believe she’s been writing while she’s been there) so his assessment isn’t factual to me. Her ability to shadow/assist has nothing to do with her being a good or bad journalist, and what would she have to add to the meeting she was in, she’s never worked for a real newspaper before just at school. Emily, Lorelei and Rory going back to status quo at dinner is incredibly frustrating given what’s happened, but I think Lorelei has given up trying to change Emily because it never works. I’m guessing she doesn’t feel like it’s worth the fight. I’m already ready for next week’s episode!!

Khandys

this was basically when i started to hate rory and the person she was becoming.

Denise McClymont

At the beginning of the episode, Rory was clearing out her dorm a little at a time so she didn't have to move everything all at once at the end of the year. Smart! I wish I lived that close to school bc I had to hire movers every year to put my stuff in a storage unit at the edge of town.
