Great reaction. It is funny how it grows on you as you get more invested in the characters. Two main thoughts today. One: the guy who played the teacher is British and his terrible New York Christopher Walken sounding American accent is SO distracting And didn't they even say he was supposed to be from New Hampshire? Why is he trying to do a Goodfellas accent? Couldn't it have been just as effective if he just used his actual British accent? And two: Jordan can't read. Also, just a reminder because it's important to remember every few episodes. Jordan Catalano has an Oscar. Seriously. That's weirder to me than Ben Affleck having an Oscar for screen writing (which he also does). Speaking of Good Will Hunting and Robin Williams, this episode was very well executed example of what is now almost a cliche story of the unconventional and inspirational teacher that peaked in the late 80s and early 90s. Dead Poet's Society, Dangerous Minds, Stand and Deliver, Finding Forrester, Lean on Me, Head of the Class, even Mr. Feeney from Boy Meets World, the list goes on. The earliest example I can thinK of is To Sir With Love, a book which later became a movie starring Sidney Poitier in 1967. Weirdly, both Brian and Steven have run across this trope in their reactions recently as well. Brian in an almost identical arc but with a much more comedic tone in Derry Girls and Steven in spoof form on Community.
